JOB DETAILS:
Position Overview:
• As a Country Manager with a strong understanding of geology and mining processes, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all mining operations, as well as to lead and coordinate various aspects of mining operations, safety, environmental compliance and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day mining operations, ensuring efficient and safe extraction of minerals. Monitor drilling, blasting, excavation, and transportation processes.
• Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the mining project to ensure its long-term success. This includes setting production targets, cost control, and safety standards.
• Analyze geological data, ore reserves, and ore quality to optimize extraction processes and resource utilization.
• Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international mining regulations. Manage permit applications and maintain a strong relationship with regulatory authorities.
• Prioritize and enforce safety measures to protect employees and minimize environmental impact. Implement safety training programs and environmental management systems.
• Develop and manage the annual budget, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities to improve profitability.
• Recruit, train, and supervise a team of mining professionals, including engineers, geologists, safety officers, and operational staff. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain positive relationships with local communities, government officials, and other stakeholders. Engage in community development initiatives and address concerns or grievances.
• Coordinate transportation, supply procurement, and equipment maintenance to ensure smooth mining operations.
• Provide regular reports to senior management and stakeholders on key performance indicators, production updates, safety records, and financial results.
• Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity.
• Stay current with industry trends and implement technological advancements to improve mining efficiency and environmental practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or masters degree in Geology or a related field.
• Experience of 10+ years in mining operations and management with a strong geologist background.
• Knowledge of relevant mining regulations and safety standards.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Financial acumen for budgeting and cost control.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Adaptability and resilience to address challenges in a dynamic industry.
