JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
This function is responsible for assisting the Strategy Office to develop the essential infrastructure required to empower our dynamic Data Science team. The function will be instrumental in enabling the Bank’s Data Science team to provide comprehensive, pan-bank data-driven insights that fuel data-led decision-making across the organization. Furthermore, the function will be at the forefront of gathering, storing, aggregating, and modeling data into building blocks, enabling us to harness the power of data effectively. The function will also be responsible for driving the implementation of the bank’s ambitious big data strategy, positioning us at the forefront of innovation and technological advancement in the financial sector.
Under the supervision of the Strategy Head, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cutting-edge data infrastructure, setting the gold standard for scalability, reliability, and performance
• Spearhead the development of automated data pipelines to streamline data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes
• Drive the development of complex data integration solutions that meet both current and future business requirements
• Innovate ETL and ELT processes to enhance data workflow efficiency and data quality
• Lead the charge in continuously enhancing our data infrastructure systems, ensuring they remain at the forefront of technological advancement
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative features and functionalities within our data ecosystem
• Oversee the 24/7 operation of our data infrastructure systems, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to maintain optimal performance
• Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies to safeguard critical data assets
• Utilize expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues promptly
• Establish a robust root cause analysis framework to prevent the recurrence of data disruptions
• Spearhead the development of data products and features, aligning them with the bank’s strategic goals and objectives
• Foster an agile and collaborative environment for cross-functional teams working on data product development
• Define and implement a visionary data architecture that can handle large data volumes, ensuring optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading
• Collaborate with architects to evaluate emerging data technologies and integrate them into our ecosystem where appropriate
• Strategize and execute data acquisition and consumption methods aligned with the organization’s evolving technical landscape
• Identify opportunities for data enrichment and external data source integration
• Develop and enforce quality assurance protocols, ensuring all data processes adhere to best practices and industry standards
• Collaborate with teams to establish data governance frameworks that foster data stewardship and accountability
• Proactively identify and mitigate data management challenges to enhance overall data quality.
• Drive initiatives to standardize and centralize data management processes
• Collaborate closely with data analysts and business partners to enhance the analytical capabilities of our data pipeline
• Innovate reporting solutions and dashboards that facilitate informed decision-making
• Cultivate strong partnerships with stakeholders from various business units, offering expertise to address data-related challenges and opportunities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with data infrastructure needs
• Drive innovation through the automation of critical business solutions and processes e.g. automating reconciliation processes.
• Explore emerging tools and technologies to enhance data pipeline efficiency and reliability
• Any other responsibilities or tasks as maybe assigned by management.

Requirements
Qualifications And Experience
• Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a relevant field
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering roles, including expertise in SQL, Python, ETL, data warehousing, big data platforms, and advanced data analytics. At least 5 years of big data experience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
