JOB DETAILS:
The U.S. Agency for Development has contracted DAI to implement the Scaling Up Nutrition Technical Assistance (SUN TA) project in Zambia. The objective of the project is to reduce stunting in Zambia through implementation of the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) 1,000 days Most Critical Program. TechnoServe is a sub-contractor providing technical assistance in agriculture and livelihood programs.
The program focuses on 3 key thematic areas: Health and Nutrition; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene; and Agriculture and Livelihoods. The program operates across 4 provinces, in 13 districts of Zambia, namely: Central Province – Mumbwa, Chibombo, Kabwe, Kapiri Mposhi; Copperbelt Province – Ndola, Kitwe; Luapula Province- Mansa, Samfya, Nchelenge; and Northern Province – Mbala, Kasama, Kaputa, Luwingu.
SUN TA is promoting production and consumption of nutrient dense vegetables/field crops targeting households/mothers with children under the age of five and training them in vegetable/field crop/chicken production, nutrition/cooking of healthy meals, business / entrepreneurship and sanitation.

Scope of Work
Under the supervision of the M&E Manager, the Data Management Intern will support the TechnoServe to update the SUN TA Primary Master Database, conduct data quality validation, analysis, generate reports and insights from the data submissions based on the SUN TA key performance indicators.

Methodology
The Data Management Intern will ensure the data been received from the Data Clerk Interns based at district level are accurate and complete before inputting them into the SUN TA Primary Master Database. Where necessary follow up with Field Interns on unclear data entries. Once data quality validation checks have been completed, the Intern will need to generate data visualizations (Presentation) based on the SUN TA key performance indicators.

Duration
The Data Management Intern will be engaged for a period for a period of 6 months.
Deliverables

The intern will, on a daily basis undertake the following:
• Conduct data quality validation checks on the submissions made by Interns based at district level. This is to ensure the data is accurate and complete
• Data entry of cleaned raw data on to the Primary Master database.
• Generate reports, data visualisations based on the key SUN TA Performance Indicators
• Mentor and orient the field Interns on the data quality assurance
• Undertake data quality assessment in the field on the reported data.
• Any other activities as assigned by the supervisor
Payment
Data Management Interns will be paid according to work done as agreed in the terms of reference. Payment will be based on a monthly invoice submitted to TechnoServe upon delivery of agreed targets.

Qualifications and Experience
Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in the following or related fields: Agriculture Economics, Demography, Computer Science, Information Technology etc.

Experience & Skills
• Good quantitative data analysis skills
• Ability to run validation checks on the significant amounts of data with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to make connections/see relationships between different sets of information
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
• Experience working with mobile data collection technology
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications especially Excel and Word
• Good understanding of the agriculture reporting indicators
• Knowledgeable of statistical package software such as SPSS, STATA etc.
