Eden University is situated in Barlastone Park, Lusaka west. The University has grown rapidly over the last three years. It has over 4, 500 students, a strong faculty and a good compliment of support staff.
The University now has three schools, these are, the School of Education, the School of Health Sciences and the School of Post Graduate Studies. In addition we now have the department of Fire Engineering and Rescue Management. The University envisages adding training in Medicine and a School of Natural Sciences in the next few years.
Given this academic expansion the institution wishes to recruit a suitably qualified candidate for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
This is a key position in the University's central administration, playing a crucial role in the development, direction, management, and implementation of the University's strategy and corporate plans. Working through Senate and Council, the job holder directs the academic, research and planning programmes and operations of the University to ensure that the services provided meet the institution's mission as well as short and long term needs of individuals and society. .

The key principal accountabilities will be the following:
Administrative work
• Working with the Vice Chancellor and other officers to develop and successfully deliver and implement the 5 year strategic plan of the University. Working with the Vice Chancellor to develop institutional and professional capacities to enhance the provision of coherent administrative management of all academic and administrative units of the University
• To participate in, attend and chairing as required, administrative committees of the University as delegated.
Academic and Research supervision work
• Supervision of quality assurance in teaching and learning in all undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the University Monitoring and supervision of University wide research and the research outcomes, through assessment of national as well as international impacts.
• To be the main University link with National Quality assurance institutions such as Higher Education Authority, Health Professions Council of Zambia and General Nursing Council.
• To participate in, attending and where required, Chair academic committees of the University as delegated by
Community work
• To support the Vice Chancellor in promoting collaboration with all stakeholders, especially the Government, alumni, local communities, cooperating partners and the private sector. In addition to support and sustain good relationships between the Eden University and the communities of University stakeholders.
• To represent the Eden University at international force as delegated.
• These will be intended for the promotion of academic programmes and fostering networks in higher educational institutions.
• To help co-ordinate University wide research and consultancy especially in collaboration with National and International partners.
• To oversee web based University outputs for research and promotional activities of the University related to international ranking of the University.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor of Sciences (BSc) or equivalent, Master of Science (MSc) or equivalent and an earned
• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Postgraduate diploma or Masters in teaching methods will be an added advantage
• Previous appointment as Senior Lecturer Associate Professor or Professor in a University or College Evidence of research publications in peer reviewed journals
• Evidence of management of Rescarch grants in a University or College settingMinimum related experience of 10 to 15 years in University education, administration orequivalent institutions
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Previous administrative experience as Dean or Deputy Vice Chancellor in a University or College oradministrative experience at the level of Director or Higher in a Research Institute or Educational
• Training Institution.
• Familiarity with Education training regulation standards such as Zambia Qualification authority(ZQA), Higher Education Authority (HEA), General Nursing Council (G.N.C) and Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
JOB DESCRIPTION AND QUALITIES
 The Deputy Vice Chancellor shall be under the direct supervision of the Vice Chancellor.
 The successful candidate will need to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer of the University (Who is the overall Institution head) as well as the Deans of the School (who are the Academic Unit heads).
