JOB DETAILS:
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Drill & Blast Controllers (QA/QC) to join the versatile Mining Drill and Blast team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the aims and goals of the Drill and Blasting section by ensuring adherence to LMC’s Drill and Blast management processes correctly.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Providing information to coordinators and supervisors that drives productivity and ensures maximum production and productivity.
• Responsible for the direct daily quality Checks.
• Control checks on the quality of the Drill pad preparation.
• Ensure the provision of quality blast holes to the contract blasting supplier.
• Quality control of loading and stemming activities to ensure holes are loaded to design.
• Control checks of the quality of explosives
• Ensure that blast areas are correctly delineated, and access controlled for restricted entry.
• Organize and manage the sleeping of shoots and organization of sentries.
• Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work areas and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applied at LMC.
• Actively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and implement changes.
• Actively promote, monitor, and enforce compliance of safe work practices.
• Ensure all incidents are reported.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum of full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• A Diploma or Certificate in Mining engineering discipline is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Open Pit Mining Industry in Drill and Blast.
• Valid Zambian Blasting License.
• Ability to understand mining equipment optimization concepts (sense of productivity).
• Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment such as drill rigs and blasting experience.
• Must have a valid Zambian Drivers License.
• Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications.
