Overview
Exciting opportunity for an Ecologist who is passionate about Zambian wildlife, conservation principles, and flora and fauna to take up a permanent position in this beautiful Conservancy. You will need to have worked in a similar position for AT LEAST 5 years, have an MSc in Ecology or similar. Need to be open minded, a good planner and great Managerial ability.
• Gain an understanding of the interaction between soils, vegetation, fire and large mammals
• Implement best fire management practices
• Understanding seasonal wildlife movements
• Organising and completing aerial game counts
• Understanding current large herbivore biomass
• Mapping of fires, wildlife movements, roads, land degradation etc
• Landscape management
• Landscape rehabilitation
• Vegetation rehabilitation
• Management of collared animals, tsetse fly control and invasive alien plant control
• Managing respective staff and contracts / payroll and overtime claims
• Drawing up and managing annual budget / departmental procurement
• Annual planning / Gantt chart
• Team leadership
• OPERATE QGIS very well
