Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
The RWTS electrical supervisor is responsible for the electrical maintenance of mobile mining equipment and the maintenance workshop. He or she will lead a team of technicians to meet electrical maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs) and reliability. Included in the list of KPIs is:
• To minimize unplanned downtime. Target hours to first fault after service must be above 75 hours.
• To diagnose failures and coordinate and track plans to prevent them thereafter. The target mean time between breakdowns must be above 150 hours.
• Lead operational safety of maintenance crews to achieve 0 LTIs and 0 accidents.
• Report electrical safety incidents within 24hrs of occurrence.
• Optimize planned maintenance services to facilitate 0 delays on services.
• Organize and schedule planned jobs to accomplish a minimum of 70% employee utilization with a mean time to repair of not more than 4 hours.

Specific Job Responsibility
• Lead a team of technicians to attain KPIs.
• Provide insightful technical and logistical support.
• Guide the Maintenance and repair organization with updated performance/execution information, KPIs and management recommendations.
• Support the continuous improvement processes and initiatives and lead the defect elimination processes across the department.
• Ensure all maintenance tasks are carried out as per the OEM recommendations and site-specific standards.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to subordinates, including ongoing training and development, performance management, conflict management and crisis management.
• Carries primary legal responsibility for all tasks performed during the shift and fills out the legal logbook correctly and accurately.

Job Specific Competencies
• Leads a team of skilled electrical technicians in carrying out various maintenance and administrative activities in the mine maintenance department.
• Correctly fills in the logbook as per legal requirements.
• Trains both existing and new employees, monitors their progress, and fairly reviews their performance.
• Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decreases unplanned equipment downtimes by striving to meet departmental KPIs viz.: MTFS = 75 hours, MTBB = 150 hours, MTTR < 4 hours, and MTBF = 50 hours.
• Performs daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Leads reliability centered, predictive, preventive and reactive maintenance of mining equipment such as haul and service trucks, ancillary equipment, graders, shovels, drills, and excavators.
• Practices workplace safety
• Adheres to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
• Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the coordinator.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality service to the mine.
• Perform electrical repairs on mining equipment in the workshop, PM bay, in-pit or anywhere within the mine lease.
• Ensures that work orders are accurately completed and handed in to the maintenance planners in time.
• Follows reasonable instructions given by superiors.
• Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
• Supervision of interns, students on industrial attachments and trainees.

• Komatsu D375A/ 475A Dozers
• Komatsu HD785-7 Utility Trucks
• Komatsu WD500/WD900-3 Wheel Dozers
• Komatsu WA380/WA600 Wheel Loader
• Caterpillar CA 777D Low bed
• Volvo A40F ADT
• Liebherr T284 Trucks
• Letourneau LE2350 Loader
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance role.
• Experience in using engineering management software Pronto is essential.
• A qualification in project management is an advantage.
• Experience in mining or other heavy industry.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications
• First Aid Certificate
• Supervisory and Logbook Training
• Diploma in Power Electrical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Project Management experience or qualification is an advantage.
