JOB DETAILS:
An internationally renowned company is currently undertaking the construction of the Zambia One Stop Border Post in Kazungula and is seeking for an experienced Environmental Control Officer to perform the following duties and responsibilities;
As Environmental Control Officer responsible for compliance and environmental practices at the construction site.
Monitoring the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP), comply with the Environmental Action Plan (EAP) guidelines and exercise environmental control of site activities through pollution prevention and control.
To undertake such responsibilities, including stoppage of operations at work sites where; any visible leaks, or signs of contamination including dust pollution are identified until such issues are resolved.
Removal and disposal of hazardous waste and products at a licensed hazardous waste facility, which are inappropriately stored or sort them and temporarily store them at the site hazardous waste facility before final disposal.
Monitor operations of the machines, contain leaks and direct management for immediate repairs
Ensuring that the site is free from environmental hazards, give instructions to clean up the site if the prevailing conditions are untidy and disorderly
With the ability to handle hazardous material emergencies in accordance with the environmental law and emergency preparedness plan for the site.
Preparation of monthly progress reports and attending monthly progress meetings .
Report to the Project Manager on environmental compliance matters.
Overall experience of 10 Years and above with 5 years’ specific experience in supervision of construction related environmental Issues. .
