The Media Network on Child Rights and Development (MNCRD) is a vibrant, membership driven, media association dedicated to sensitizing and equipping the media and children to cover child rights and development issues. It works with government, civil society, cooperating partners, children and journalists to ensure that the voices of children and their issues are captured in the media to achieve policy change and implementation. Our vision is a society where children’s rights are understood, prioritised and enforced.
MNCRD wishes to invite qualified individuals to apply for the following position:
Position: Finance and Administration Officer – (x1 position)
Duty Station: Lusaka
Role Purpose:
The Finance and Administration Officer
The Finance and Administration Officer will be responsible for all aspects of financial management of the organization in close coordination with programs staff. The Finance and Administration Officer will oversee and coordinate financial activities including financial systems implementation, budgeting, expenditure tracking, procurement, grants, logistics, HR, administration, and financial reporting and accounting. S/he will work closely with the Programs Manager to ensure efficient and compliant operations in all projects and administration. The person will be responsible for ensuring cost consciousness, efficient spending, and implementing and maintaining an onsite financial accounting and bookkeeping system required to assure the integrity and effective performance of MNCRD financial operations.
The incumbent will be reporting to Executive Director.
Staff directly reporting to this post: Finance and Administrative Assistant
Key Areas of Accountability:
• Build capacity of finance and administrative, and programmes staff, volunteers, children and other partners to ensure compliance to the reporting process on the utilisation of the organisation’s resources;
• Produce financial progress reports detailing the burn rate and ensure adherence of all activities to budget lines by collecting necessary supporting documents from programme staff, volunteers, children and other partners and retirements are made within the stipulated time;
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation reports for the Executive Director, quarterly progress reports showing the burn rate for partners and/or Board members, and organisation and partner annual financial reports;
• Develop and maintain budgets and applies management skills to troubleshoot in order to fulfil programmes;
• Ensure that the procedures in the Finance and Procedures Manual and the Human Resources Manual for the organisation are adhered to;
• Advise the Executive Director on budgetary requirementS during the preparation of project proposals and/or fundraising concept notes;
• Prepare budgets for projects;
• Ensure that staff members’ issues are addressed amicably to maintain a peaceful and democratic work environment that promotes dignity for all in respect for human rights;
• Attend meetings on behalf of the organisation and do other assignments as directed by the Executive Director
Qualifications and Experience
• ACCA, CIMA, Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and its equivalent;
• 3+ years’ work experience in areas of accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and payroll;
• Computer literate with excellent experience in Pastel, MS Excel, MS word, MS PowerPoint, internet browsers and accounting packages; and
• Experience in a finance role for an NGO or non-profit will be an added advantage.

The successful candidates will work under the supervision of the Executive Director.
The post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
Child Safeguarding:
The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people. This requires that they uphold highest levels of integrity dealing with children in accordance with the Code of Conduct of MNCRD.
