JOB DETAILS:
GENERAL MANAGER
Meanwood General Insurance is a growing general Insurance Company in Zambia. The Company underwrites all classes of business in respect of general insurance and has a good branch network spread across the Country.
The Company is seeking to recruit a dynamic and visionary leader to join as a General Manager and reporting to the Board of Directors.
The General Manager’s primary responsibility is to lead and ensure effective and efficient delivery of the goals and objectives of the Company within the approved strategic plan and annual budgets. .
Job Responsibilities:
• Formulate and implement the business strategy to ensure overall achievement of the Company’s long-term strategy and annual business plans;
• Ensure to keep the Company’s financial position in a strong and solvent position at all times;
• Ensure that the Company’s risk management system is technically effective including putting in place sound underwriting mechanisms and reinsurance programmes;
• Ensure to put in place effective business development structures in order to grow the Company’s brand and market share;
• As the face of the organisation, creating strategic relationships and communicating with the board directors, shareholders, the Pensions and Insurance Authority, relevant government entities, reinsurers, business intermediaries, and the public;
• Ensure that the Company’s structure in terms of organisation, human capital, systems and tools are at all times aligned for achieving the Company’s organisational objectives;
• Monitor and motivate employees in order to ensure that they deliver results and also foster a culture which is well aligned with the Company’s vision and mission;
• Prepare regular and periodic reports to the Board of Directors that provide a strategic direction and qualitative assessment on the achievement of the planned goals;

Job Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Insurance and/or ACII/FCII;
• MBA is an added advantage;
• Be a member of a recognised professional body;
• Minimum 10 years working experience at senior Management level in a General Insurance Company;
• Possess strong knowledge of the insurance or financial services industry and a proven track record in business growth;
• Have thorough understanding of insurance, financial management, strategic management, regulatory compliance, board management and demonstrable commercial acumen.
Job Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance and/or ACII/FCII;
Job Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 10 years working experience at senior Management level in a General Insurance Company;
