JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The General Manager will provide oversight on the management of the farm and will take lead in the commercial operations of the farm including the sales and marketing, transportation and distribution and the expansion of the farm.
Key Responsibilities
• Articulate the vision of the Company and strategic direction given the expectations of the policy holders and shareholders.
• Lead, direct, and control the Company’s operations in line with its mission and short, medium, and long-term strategic goals.
• Ensure the development of and maintenance of a performance management system aimed at ensuring that all Employees work towards the achievement of set goals.
• Create and maintain a cohesive and motivated team for the sustained achievement of the Company’s set targets and strategic plan.
• Prepare timely, provision of concise, and relevant orderly reports to be presented in formats which enable the Directors understand issues and contribute fully to the progress of the Company.
• Ensure all Company’s activities and plans comply with legislative requirements in the country.
• Ensure the development of and maintenance of efficient budgetary and financial management structure.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of sound accounting policies and practices in line with the legal and Board requirements.
• Efficiently manage stakeholder issues i.e. staff, clients, agent, regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and shareholders;
• Ensure achievement of set Key Performance Indicators.
• Perform any other responsibilities or duties associated with the Company that may be required of the Employee by the Board and or Shareholders.
• The Employee shall also exercise the powers and duties generally exercised by the General Manager in the furtherance of the interests of the Company as may be authorised and or delegated by the Board of Directors.
• Oversee the operations of the farm, including planning and managing production and handling business administration.
• Ensure farm operations and practices meet health, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
• Inspect farm buildings and equipment, making sure routine maintenance is carried out and repairs made when necessary.
• Hire, train, and supervise workers and plan, coordinate, and direct their activities.
• Plan and direct activities such as planting, growing, and harvesting crops.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Competencies required for this Role
• Grade twelve Certificate.
• Master’s Degree in Agro economics, Business Administration, or relevant field.
• 8 years’ experience in senior management or similar position.
• Excellent management skills.
• Excellent people skills.
• Excellent Communication skills.
• Computer literacy in MS Office.
• Valid driver’s license.
