JOB DETAILS:
• Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL) is jointly owned by Nava (Singapore) Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH plc.
• The Company owns and operates a large-scale coal mine and has also constructed and operates a 300
• Mega Watt Coal fired Power Plant to cater for the growing demand for power in Zambia.
• Maamba Collieries is looking for dynamic and young Geologist professional who want to build a career
• for themselves with a large and professionally managed company located at Maamba, Sinazongwe
• District, Southern Province.

Job Title: Geologist (Iron Ore Experience)
The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to manage and oversee the geological aspects
of drilling operations for iron ore explorations. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of
engineers, geologists, and mining professionals to ensure efficient and effective drilling activities in
accordance with project objectives and safety standards.
A) Key Responsibilities:
1) Geological Planning:
• Plan and coordinate drilling programs based on geological data, exploration targets,
and project requirements.
2) Drilling Operations Management:
• Supervise drilling activities to ensure adherence to drilling plans, safety protocols, and
environmental regulations.
• Monitor drilling progress, sample quality.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to optimize drilling efficiency and
minimize downtime.
3) Data Collection and Reporting:
• Collect, organize, and manage geological data, including core samples, drill logs, and
assay results.
• Collaborate with geologist’s team & field engineers.
4) Geological Mapping and Modeling:
• Conduct geological mapping and fieldwork to characterize geological formations,
lithology, and structural geology.
5) Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC):
• Implement QA/QC procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of geological data
collected during drilling operations and compliance with SAMREC / industry
standards.

Qualifications and Skills:
1) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology.
2) 8 to 10 Years of Proven experience in geological drilling exploration, preferably in iron ore
(MAGNETITE).
3) Proficiency in software such as GIS, CAD, and modeling tools.
4) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
5) Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with
multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
6) Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental practices, and industry best practices in
mineral exploration.
