Job Description
Vacancy Advertisement: Geometallurgy Coordinator
• Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Coordinator – Geometallurgy to join the Mineral Resources Management Department.
• Reporting to the Superintendent – Database Management, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the geometallurgical program and data management in Data Shed, Access and Log Chief of all grade control and production related data.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Ensure data validity, accuracy, optimal grade estimation and maximizing resource recovery throughout the mining value chain.
• Implement work programs consistent with sound world class operating principles as well as optimizing the financial objectives of the business.
• Lead subordinates by setting the example and provide them with clear and correct instructions.
• Manage lab assay QA/QC program (implementation, maintenance, and reporting). Report all errors and take initiative to correct them.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive geometallurgical program to support efficient mineral processing operations.
• Establish standardized procedures and guidelines for data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation to optimize ore extraction, blending, and processing.
• Collaborate with mining and processing teams to ensure seamless integration of geometallurgical principles into daily operations.
• Monitor and evaluate geometallurgical performance, identify areas for improvement, and propose innovative solutions to enhance productivity and recovery rates.
• Work closely with Mine geologists and metallurgists to integrate geological and metallurgical data, providing valuable insights for mine planning and optimization.
• Collaborate with resource estimation teams to develop reliable Grade Control models and estimates based on geometallurgical parameters.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mine geologists, metallurgists, mining engineers, and processing personnel to optimize ore handling, processing, and recovery.
• Perform any other duties as directed by the superior.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• Bachelor of Science – majoring in Geology/Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering. A master’s degree is highly desirable.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in geometallurgy or a closely related discipline within the mining and mineral processing industry.
• Experience in large open cut mines and knowledge of their management principles and philosophies would be advantageous.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language.
• Must have strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts.
• Must be computer literate with exposure to Microsoft Office programs.
• Must be a confident person and capable of resolving all work-related issues (contractor & junior staff)
• Must have a valid Zambian driver’s license.
