Global People and Culture Lead
At PEAS, our greatest asset is our talented people. As Global People and Culture Lead, you will have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to set the tone for the organisation, by bringing PEAS’ People and Culture (P&C) Charter to life across our offices and school network. Our P&C charter outlines the offer we make to our people to ensure PEAS is a fantastic place to work. It articulates our vision, mission and the impact we want to make. It clarifies the expectations we have of all staff, which are necessary to ensure the best results for students. It defines the culture we all work tirelessly to build every day. The Global P&C Lead will work closely with the country office HR leads to make sure that this charter is transformed into a living, vibrant approach; reflected in our everyday work and systems.
PEAS has achieved great things in the last 15 years, and we know we can achieve even more in the next 15 years. So, as we move into the next chapter, we’re looking for a Global P&C Lead to join us on this exciting and challenging journey as we work to make the vision a reality.
As Global P&C Lead, you will connect with people across all of PEAS, take the pulse of the organisation regularly and provide strategic direction on what our teams need to be more motivated and effective in their roles. You will lead on the development, refinement and implementation of PEAS’ P&C approaches such as our diversity, equity and inclusion approach and gender approach. You will provide strong technical assistance to country office HR leads to support them to create an inclusive, values-focused culture which reflects the P&C charter. You will directly provide PEAS global team (mainly PEAS UK and locally based staff) with HR business support. Also, in our new strategic period, PEAS will expand into new geographies, taking on new projects to use our expertise and experience to support other educators. The Global P&C Lead will play a role in supporting HR functions in these new countries until a full team is set up and will then provide management and oversight as needed.
This is an exciting role for a qualified HR professional who is looking for an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, diverse organisation, and be able to shape the global strategy for people and culture. To be successful in this role you will need to have at least 3-5 years’ experience in a senior level HR role with a proven track record of leading multicultural teams, developing and effectively implementing HR policies and P&C approaches across an organisation, preferably including in the UK, Uganda or Zambia. Experience in the education sector is not essential, but a passion for improving the life chances of all children through educational opportunity is key.
At PEAS, our leaders are to be ego-less, prepared to be both a great leader and a great do-er. This role will be challenging, so you must be resilient and adaptable. When something doesn’t improve or change immediately, you must remain energised, find ways to learn from mistakes, ensuring that we find a way forward in the end. For the right individual, this challenge will be exciting as you bring onboard your experience and skills to make our ambitious strategy a reality.
We would like this role to be based in either of our countries of operations – Uganda or Zambia and therefore will prioritise Zambian and Ugandan nationals or those with the existing right to work in those countries and who meet the criteria. However, we are open to candidates based in other parts of Africa.
