JOB DETAILS:
HIV Prevention Trainer
• Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) seeks an HIV Prevention Training Officer to spearhead Community HIV Prevention programs for adolescents aged 10 to 14 years of age under the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Project, which is funded by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and PEPFAR.
• The overall goal of the TCE project is to achieve HIV Epidemic Control through the UNAIDS 95-95-95 strategy. HIV prevention activities will include the Families Matter Program(FMP), No Means No Program(NMNP) and Couching Boys into Men(CBiM)
• The position will work under the OVC project in and around 92 Health Facilities in 1 district in Western Province and 2 districts in Eastern Province. The HIV Prevention activities will be carried out by volunteers receiving a stipend. They will be supervised by District Field Staff.
• The HIV Prevention Training Officer will be reporting to the Provincial Coordinators.
• The position is based in Chipata, Eastern Province.

1. Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to: –
1.1 Provides leadership, administration, management and coordination support to the Volunteers and projects in the districts.
1.2 Adapts existing HIV Prevention training programs to fit to the Child Aid OVC Western and Eastern Provinces, ensuring and following approved guidelines from PEPFAR.
1.3 Develops job description and Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) for Volunteers, trainers and DAPP Staff in the above mentioned scope of work as well as HIV biomedical prevention
1.4 Trains and continues mentoring the volunteers for the 3 above mentioned programs.
1.5 Builds capacity in the Project staff to provide on-going supervision within the OVC Project.
1.6 Ensures that project targets, objectives, and goals are being met according to planned schedules.
1.7 Provides technical assistance to Volunteers and teams in the districts and communities.
1.8 Assists Volunteers in planning, development and scheduling of community activities.
1.9 Ensures that documentation, filling, and reporting are done according to established quality standards.
1.10 Participates in the facilitation of approved trainings and worskshops.
1.11 Supports District coordinators and Project Leaders in the identification of Volunteer and VCA to be part of the program.
1.12 Conducts periodic monitoring field visits to assess programme impact in liaison with the Provincial office.
1.13 Undertakes participatory problem identification with partners and CBOs in the assigned district.
1.14 Ensures timely reporting of all activities according to agreed timelines.
1.15 Ensures prudent and transparent usage of all funds disbursed to the district, including supplies and equipment in every project area.
1.16 Supports smooth running of data collection system following M/E procedures.
1.17 Supports the documentation of success stories.
1.18 Submits quarterly databases to Project Manager
1.19 Submits monthly budget requests to Project Manager
1.20 Provides timely reports to the Project Manager
1.21 Sets annual performance objectives, and reviews their implementation on a continuous basis and ensures that performance reviews are conducted and documented half-yearly and annually
1.22 Carries out other tasks as assigned to by the superiors

2. Qualifications and Experience
2.1 Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Development Studies
2.2 At least 3 years of experience in HIV Prevention project implementation
2.3 Having implemented the following three HIV prevention programs:
(a) Families Matters
(b) No Means No Program and
(c) Coaching Boys to Men.
2.4 Demonstrated strong facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills;
2.5 Demonstrated experience working with Government of Zambia authorities as well as other partners and stakeholders;
2.6 Demonstrated experience in development of training materials and standard operational procedures.
2.7 Able to understand and speak basic Lozi and Ngoni or Chewa will be added advantage
