GreenCo acts as an intermediary offtaker and service provider, purchasing power from renewable IPPs and selling that electricity to utilities and private sector offtakers (i.e. commercial and industrial users) and markets of the SAPP. Through its activities, GreenCo will increase the supply of, and demand for, finance for energy projects, and mobilise private sector capital more quickly towards critical and transformative capacity addition.

B. The Role in Context
The Head of Business development (BD) will be responsible for matters pertaining to business growth, commercial operation and contracts management of the company. .
Key duties of a Head of Business Development:
Leading on PPA negotiations with IPPs and PSA negotiations with large commercial, industrial off-takers and other buyers;
• Geographical coverage to include the entire SSA region with the initial focus on Zambia;
• Business origination and development and driving revenue growth and diversification;
• Creating business cases for new buy/sell/ power transactions and innovative solution;
• Client relationship management and representation of company at conferences, trade shows and public discussion forums;
• Creating go-to-market strategy and plans for portfolio of buyers and sellers;
• Understanding and supporting development of Government and utility IPP procurement processes and procedures;
• Provides regular market performance and analysis for GreenCo’s strategy formulation on the sell and buy side;
• Support the trading department in new products and counterparty KYC approval.

C. Qualifications and Requirements
The Head Business Development will be expected to bring a combination of the following experience, personal attributes and qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years of overall professional working experience;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business origination and client management in the power sector or from the finance sector working towards clients with a significant exposure in power markets(e.g. generators or large industrial and commercial offtakers;
• Degree level education from a recognized university/institution in energy, business, economics, finance or equivalent – additional qualifications will be considered a bonus;
• Must be fluent in written and oral English;
• Must have the ability to develop company business plans and strategies;
• General knowledge of finance and counterparty risk;
• Experienced in power purchase and supply agreement negotiations;
• In-depth understanding of SSA power, SAPP Market and in particular Zambian power market and key technologies employed by an IPP in renewable energy power generation;
• Must be familiar with lender and bankability requirements for power projects in project finance;
• Should possess strong business networking skills, must be familiar with both the supply (IPPs) and the demand (customer) players in national and regional markets;
• Should have an understanding of key technologies employed by IPP in power generation;
• Strong focus on applying robust KYC and credit evaluation of counterparties;
• Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively;
• Innovative self-starter who can work on own initiative to problem solve and help build the business development function.
D. Time Commitment
This is a full-time role and whilst the normal working week is 40 hours, it is expected that the ideal candidate will be prepared to both work and travel as required to fulfil the objectives of the business.
