JOB DETAILS:
Head of Housekeeping– 5* property – Lower Zambezi, Zambia
A brand new 5* lodge is being built on the Lower Zambezi. It will be one of the most luxurious in the region and is set to become the top safari destination on the Lower Zambezi. This is a very exciting opportunity to become part of a brand-new team, starting from the ground up. This magnificent property will officially open its doors to its first international Guests early next year and successful candidates will commence work from January 2022.
We are looking to recruit staff at all levels for the Lodge, but one of the most critical at this stage is for the Head of Housekeeping.
Minimum Requirements:
• Solid experience as a Head of Housekeeping in preferably a 5-star bush/safari establishment
• A relevant tertiary qualification would be preferred
• Must be prepared to live-n
• Thrives in a remote environment
• Passionate about customer service and delivering the best experience
• Passionate about the African Bush, conservation and wildlife
• Driven, energetic, compassionate and ambitious, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Unrelenting attention to detail and high standards.
• Structured manager with experience of leading diverse teams.
• Open minded and able to think outside of the box.
• The ability to motivate and inspire yourself and others.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication.
• Zambian citizens would be preferred
Duties Include:
• Training of all new housekeeping staff
• Overseeing the entire housekeeping staff and making sure that all deadlines are respected
• Hand out tasks to your team
• Preparation of rooms for new guests and cleaning of all rooms daily to meet the requirements and standards
• Weekly in-depth cleaning of all rooms and the main area
• Report any maintenance that needs to be attended in the rooms and main areas
• Laundry and ironing of guests clothing
• Laundry and ironing all linen including napkins, tablecloths, etc.
• You must be punctual at all times and well presented
• General cleanliness of the storerooms/ washing area where guests clothes are washed
• Cleaning and presentation of guest toilets inclusive of main area and regular checks during the day
• Ensuring guests and senior staff tents or houses and their surroundings are cleaned and maintained, including cleanliness of rubbish bins, cobweb checks and general attention to detail
• Making sure all the housekeeping or laundry store rooms are kept clean at all times before and after use
• Regular orders and stock takes to be done and submitted to camp management
• Making sure that all camp linen is packed according to the company standards, and well looked after, and it is your responsibility to report all damaged sheet, pillows, pillow cases, duvets covers, inners, mattress covers, broken zip or door, loose taps, broken mirrors.
• To report in a timely manner any shortage of cleaning agents, guests lotions, soaps toilet papers, mosquito coils, dooms, peaceful sleep, missing alarm horns and any other stock/equipment used in your department.
• Responsible for turn downs, placing of hot water bottles in guest beds in winter, tea/coffee station refreshment if required and fresh water daily in flasks.
• Responsible for ensuring regular washing of the tents, flaps and rolling up and down of the blinds to prevent rodent damage and mould.
