Job Purpose/Mission
• The position holder will be part of the EEA team that is based in Lusaka, Zambia, and will report to the Head of HR and the global HSSE managers. The successful individual will contribute to the monitoring of health, safety, security and environment as well as help assess risk, and implement strategies to reduce potential hazards during the mini-grid construction and, the daily Solar home systems operations, field locations and including all other Company assets. A successful candidate must be a detail-oriented professional with strong critical thinking skills and a demonstrated track record of effective HSSE outcomes.
Key Responsibilities, Deliverables and Activities
Support the execution of HSSE Strategy
• Implement a Health, Safety Security and Environmental strategy that will meet or exceed legislative requirements in Zambia as well as applicable standards such as ENGIE Global Care Rules and ISO45001
• Identify and document HSSE regulatory requirements, implement internal / External HSSE Audits and monitor compliance.
• Conduct HSSE visits across operational sites, review, audit and ensure strict adherence of the EPC during the construction phase to Engie HSSE Group Rules.
• Conduct security risk assessment exercises of existing MG sites (under construction or already in operation)
• Coordinate and monitor security activities at all locations of interest or projects sites, both SHS and MG, to ensure that EEA’s security policies and procedures are complied with.
• Deal with security sensitive problems. This may involve resolution of complaints and / or disciplinary issues.
Execution of HSSE Policies
• Support the creation of distinct and actionable behavioral change strategies that are appropriate for EEA employees, contractors and third parties, with a view to reducing HSSE incidents and other issues that may affect public and employee health, safety, security and the environment within which EEA operates.
• Remain alert to emerging issues and global trends that might benefit or otherwise impact individual, and teams work in order to ensure a safe working environment for all team members and third parties connected with our business.
Reporting and Incident Follow Up
• Gather high-quality data from all departments to create robust health and safety metrics for reporting.
• When incidents occur, participate in timely incident investigations and response plans in order to reduce the likelihood of future occurrences.
• Create platforms for employees to report safety incidents confidentially and without fear of reprisal.
Emergency and Crisis Response and Communication
• Implement and maintain emergency response plans, identify possible emergency scenarios and conduct drill exercises.
• Respond immediately to HSSE incidents / accidents ensuring risk mitigation strategies are implemented in a timely manner.
• Collect and analyze security related information from local and regional resources.
• Go to the field to investigate HSSE incidents and other public safety concerns within the location/area.
• Craft detailed summaries of events as required for ENGIE HSSE compliance
Required Skills & Experience
• Additional Certification in the sphere of HSSE or related areas, including Behavioral Safety Management will be an asset.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing HSSE practices on large construction projects – regionally and locally
• Ability to influence, inspire and motivate people who are not directly under your responsibility.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools and any other software relevant to job functions
• Must be proactive and have good Knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
• Experience in managing security personnel as well as security service providers.
• A valid drivers license as the job requires frequent travel across the country.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, safety and health, (OSH) and/or Security or any other related discipline.
• 3 years of HSSE experience in construction, manufacturing, energy or mining sectors.
