Job Description
Heavy Equipment Repair foreman provides leadership and direction to the maintenance staff. This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting and working in awkward positions. This work involves the operation, servicing and repair of heavy duty equipment. It also involves planning and supervising the activities of employees engaged in the Operation and repair of heavy equipment such as tractors, backhoes, loaders, forklifts and cranes. HER foreman is exposed to extreme weather conditions and shop environment. This requires that job can be performed in the workshop as well as site depending on the situation at hand. The hours and physical demand vary from time to time.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Assign work to shop Mechanics /Artisans
• To repair and maintain Loaders, cranes, forklifts, Tractors, excavator, Tipper trucks and light vehicles
• Provide training and support to the maintenance crew being led through maintenance programs
• Oversee and maintain maintenance program
• Coordinates all activities in the Garage workshop
• Schedules work for all operators, ensures the availability of relief operators
• Schedules equipment repairs to minimize impact on productivity
• Manage Repair decisions
• Assure compliance with scheduled maintenance PM of equipment and manage work flow
• Assembles reports on the suitability, reliability, availability and operating costs of various models of equipment
• Manage employees at the shop floor Maintain records and files
• Assists with interviewing potential employees, trains and evaluates new operators, and recommends subordinates for disciplinary action.
• Performs administrative duties such as keeping time sheets, maintaining daily equipment logs and
• Submitting manufacturer warranties.
• Ensures service kits and spares are available to manage flirt under His/her
• Assists in budget preparations
• Ensures that the maintenance shop, bays, Tools, Storage containers and yard are properly maintained , organized, functional safe and clean
• Effectively trains and develops the maintenance team to achieve and maintain a high standard
• Must implement the safety program goals to ensure a safety work environment by conducting safety observations, tool box talks, meetings and audits
• Maintains comprehensive records for each item of equipment with respect to down time
• Trouble shoot diagnose and repair and repair equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Skills
• Must have a minimum 10 years’ experience repairing and maintaining Heavy equipment
• Must have worked as Heavy Duty foreman for not less than 5years
• Working in the mining set up is and added advantage
• Must exhibit strong teamwork verbal and written skills
• Must possess intermediate computer skills including Microsoft office (word & Excel)
• Must have hands on experience leading and managing a heavy equipment maintenance shop
• Must possess a driver’s license

Qualifications
• Completion of G12 or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Craft Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair
• Five years’ experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment, including demonstrated supervisory ability
• Must have good communication skills
• Must produce certifications of previous trainings
• Intermediate knowledge of office function
• A minimum proven work experience of 10years in Heavy Equipment Repair
• Must be knowledgeable of OSHA and general safety requirements of heavy equipment workshop.
