Invitation for Applications to Purchase Round wood in 2023 at Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC

1.0 BACKGROUND

Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC (ZAFFICO) is a Forestry Company incorporated under the Companies Act of the laws of Zambia. The Corporation is listed on the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LUSE) with the Zambian Government, through the industrial Development Corporation (IDC), holding majority shares of about 63% and the remaining 37% being held by institutional investors, ZAFFICO employees, and the public.

Currently, ZAFFICO manages approximately 57,100 hectares of Pine, Eucalyptus and Gmelina Plantations on the Copperbelt, Luapula, Muchinga, Northern and North-Western Provinces of Zambia,

In order to promote a more competitive and fairer trading environment in roundwood business, the Corporation hereby invites applications from interested small-scale entities to register for the purchase of roundwood on the Copperbelt Province for the financial year 2023. The roundwood offer shall be for the following:

i. Pine

ii. Eucalyptus

iii. Gmelina

2.0 REQUIREMENTS

Applicants shall be required to provide the following:

1. Proof of registration/incorporation detailing names of Directors/ Shareholders, physical location of business premises and up-to-date annual returns.

2. Compliance with relevant statutory requirements listed below:

i. Tax registration with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and possession of a valid Tax Clearance Certificate;

ii. Workers Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB); and iii. National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA).

3. Latest bank statement for the past three (3) months preceding the invitation or reference letter from the bank.

Experience in sawmilling and possession of an operational sawmill will be an added advantage.

The physical location of the sawmill must be provided to facilitate an inspection by the Corporation.

3.0 APPLICATION

Successful applicants shall be required to adhere to the Corporation's Terms and Conditions governing the sale of roundwood. Please note that having the financial capacity to purchase a sawmill is not a guarantee for registration. Sawmillers with previous records of non-compliance with the Terms and Conditions governing the sale of roundwood are ineligible for registration.

Applicants shall be required to pay a non-refundable fee of K500.00 for the purchase of the application form. The banking details are as follows:
