The LUSAKA APEX MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (LAMU) is a privately owned University, accredited by the Higher Education Authority under the Higher Education Amendment Act No. 23 of 2021 to provide Higher Education in Medical Education. LAMU is regulated by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), Nursing & Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ), Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA). Lusaka Apex Medical University is therefore looking for a mature, proactive, and highly motivated and result oriented Zambian with high degree of credibility to fill the following position:

LECTURER MENTAL HEALTH NURSING AND PSYCHIATRY

To impart knowledge and skills to students in order to adequately prepare them for undergoing undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

• Participates in the preparation of departmental and faculty work plans to achieve objectives and programmes.
• Develops and designs course curriculum and study modules, covering areas of study in Mental Health, Psychiatry for the approval of the Dean.
• Prepares teaching materials and lesson plans for subject taught that meets the level of study, in Mental Health, Psychiatry and course objectives.
• Delivers lectures to the students taking degree courses in subject taught and counsels students academically so that they can achieve their highest potential
• Undertakes course evaluation, review and modification to suit students’ training and learning needs.
• Prepares examination papers, tests and assignments and marks students’ written examination papers in the subject(s) taught.
• Supervising students’ practical work in order to ensure accuracy of work.
• Plans for assigned research programmes and projects, making estimates of time, staff and equipment needed and financial costs for approval by the Dean.
• Undertakes assigned research activities, making recommendations on practical methods of applying research results to supervisor.
• Writes scholarly materials/papers arising out of research and other studies for publication and/or dissemination through various fora.
• Presents papers/materials at seminars, workshops, conferences and participates in conferences both locally and internationally.
• Participates and contributes to Faculty meetings and other meetings assigned or appointed to.

Qualifications
• Full Grade 12 school certificate or its equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Mental Health Nursing.
• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Nursing and Psychiatry
• Must be registered by NMCZ (Nursing & Midwifery Council of Zambia) and current practicing license.
