JOB DETAILS:
Purpose:
• As the University Librarian, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of our extensive library resources. You will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and research needs of our students, faculty, and staff. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent abilities communication, and a passion for promoting lifelong learning.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement library policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and compliance with industry standards.
– Manage the library budget, including resource allocation, acquisitions, and subscriptions.
– Provide leadership and guidance to library staff, fostering a collaborative and customer-oriented environment.
– Assess and enhance the library’s collection, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the university community.
– Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support research initiatives.
– Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in library science and technology, and implement innovative strategies to enhance library services.
– Provide reference and research assistance to library users, helping them access and utilize information effectively.
– Conduct library orientations, workshops, and training sessions to promote information literacy skills among students and staff.
– Maintain an engaging and welcoming library environment, ensuring the facility is clean, organized, and conducive to study.

Minimum Qualifications:
– Master’s degree in Library Science field or a related Library Studies field from an accredited institution.
– Previous experience working in an academic library or a similar setting is highly preferred.
– Strong knowledge of library management systems, digital resources, and emerging technologies.
– Familiarity with cataloguing and classification standards.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse library users and stakeholders.
– Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to motivate and guide a team.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
– Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and promoting information literacy.
