Lodge Manager – 5* property – Lower Zambezi, Zambia
A brand new 5* lodge is being built on the Lower Zambezi. It will be one of the most luxurious in the region and is set to become the top safari destination on the Lower Zambezi. This is a very exciting opportunity to become part of a brand-new team, starting from the ground up. This magnificent property will officially open its doors to its first international Guests early next year and successful candidates will commence work from January 2022.
We are looking to recruit staff at all levels for the Lodge, but the most critical at this stage is for the Lodge Manager. The Lodge Manager will be responsible for the overall running of the lodge in order to cover guest activities, hosting of guest, staff management and welfare, staff training and motivation, stock control, maintenance of camp assets. Entertainment, safety and needs of all guests by means of expert and professional guidance and service at all times. To provide a high standard of service to all guests, ensure that the guests have an unbeatable ‘African Experience’.
You will model service leadership, integrity, energy and above all be committed to creating and consistently delivering an outstanding hospitality experience for the lodge Guests.
Minimum Requirements:
• Solid management experience running a 5-star bush/safari establishment
• Tertiary Diploma/ Degree – Hotel Management or Lodge Management Diploma/ Degree – advantage
• Must be prepared to live-n
• Thrives in a remote environment
• Passionate about customer service and delivering the best Guest best experience
• Passionate about the African Bush, conservation and wildlife
• Driven, energetic, compassionate and ambitious, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Unrelenting attention to detail and high standards.
• Structured manager with experience of leading diverse teams.
• Open minded and able to think outside of the box.
• The ability to motivate and inspire yourself and others.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication.
• Fluent in English essential. Other European languages are beneficial.
• Zambian citizens would be preferred
Duties Include:
• The overall running of the lodge
• On guest arrival ensure guests are given all vital information the guests will need during their stay, safety briefing and camp orientation, ensure indemnity/registration forms are signed and understood
• Monthly, weekly and daily camp management reporting as per guidelines, including working in line with the requirements of the Financial Team inclusive of annual auditors requirements
• Making recommendations to the Operations Manager for the overall improvements of the camp and advise on threats and opportunities for the business as part of the greater management team
• Accurate monitoring and receiving of transfer details and information on guest, booking sheets by liaising with the Office for support where necessary
• Stock control and ensuring cost effectiveness without compromising the Group standards and working within budget
• Respecting the deadlines set
