JOB DETAILS:
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Logging Geotechnical Engineer to join the Mineral Resource Management team under PFS. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Projects Geotechnical Engineer, you will support the Projects Geotechnical Engineer with regards to Geotechnical Logging of geology and geotechnical exploration roles.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Carry out lithological and structural logging of geological and geotechnical exploration holes on the drilling site or in the core shed.
• Ensure the core is properly secured and transported to the core shed for storage ore further processing.
• Carry out point load testing on some selected core pieces as directed by the Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
• Ensure that core samples for rock strength testing are selected and well parked in readiness for shipping to the Labs for testing.
• Ensure the logging data is accurately entered into the database.
• Continually improve of geotechnical skills by way of working through the geotechnical skills matrix and seeking guidance and mentorship from the Projects Geotechnical Engineer.
• Supervising geotechnical drilling.
• Carryout out Dips analysis for logged data and assess how the structures will impact the stability of pit slopes.
• Validation of the logging data for input into the MRM model.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Grade 12 Certificate
• BSc in Mining /Geology/Geotechnical engineering
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• At least with 2 years’ experience in a similar function
• Experience with geology/geotechnical logging
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
• Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications
• Zambian Driver’s licence
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
• Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas .
