It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, stock feed and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.

The Required Skills for this Role Include:
• To machine, repair, maintain and install plant / machinery and equipment to ensure efficient operations and achieve production targets
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work-piece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
• Selects appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary
• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Performs routine maintenance and cleaning tasks on machines as required.
• Ensures that the machining workshop is clean and tidy.
• Use knowledge and skills to proactively and innovatively find and execute solutions for making spares for plant equipment as required by the maintenance department.
• Ensure that tools for lathe, milling and drill equipment are available and serviceable.
• Responsible to ensure that the workshop specialised equipment are kept in good order i.e., bending press, guillotine, hydraulic press, pipe bending machine and pedestal drill.

The Required Qualifications are:
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Certificate in Machining/Mechanical Technician
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• 3 years relevant experience.
