Job Summary
Reporting to the Country Program Manager, the Market & Business Specialist is responsible for identifying opportunities for business growth and optimizing marketing strategies. They analyze business processes and finances, implement business plans, and establish effective networks. The purpose of this position is to work closely with the food processors marketing, sales and business development teams to find ways to market their company and its offerings. This in turn should result in securing reliable markets, and link the smallholder farmers to markets both forward and backwards in relevant value chains supported by the program using market based solutions.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:
• Support food processors to analyze and expand business operations toward sustained growth.
• Build capacity among food processors to be able to negotiate and close business deals that promote sustained revenues.
• Build capacity among food processors on how to identify new lines of business based on consumer d
• Develop clients relationships and strengthen the partnerships
• Contribute to strengthen linkages to small holder farmers by creation and development of public-private partnerships involving commercial agribusiness, food processors and small holder farmers or producer associations in operational areas.
• Support food processors with brainstorming and developing ideas for creative marketing campaigns.
• Encourage linkages and support market communication between key actors (including farmers) to inform improved quality and reliability of supply.
• Support M&E Manager and Business unit to collect client M&E data
• Required Skills & Experience

Candidates applying should possess the following requirements:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 1 year of experience in Economics, Business Management, Marketing, or related area, or equivalent experience in food market systems, including experience working in the private sector. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years previous experience as a Market/Business Development Specialist in a related industry.
• Working experience in business development, marketing strategies, market systems development and brand expansion in Zambia.
• Understanding of the food processing sector in Zambia

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
