JOB DETAILS:
Mimbula Minerals Limited is a new Zambian copper mining open pit company in its first Phase of operations and owned by Moxico Resources Ltd of UK. It is located in Chingola town 12 Km from Chingola CBD.
During its first phase of the operations, the mine will have a production capacity of 15,000 tonnes of copper annually and expected to increase to 40,000 tonnes in the second phase.
Moxico Resources Ltd has invested about USD $40 million into the mine and expects to create between 600 and 800 direct and more than 1,000 indirect jobs under the first phase. The second phase would take up production capacity to 40,000 tonnes of copper annually with an estimated investment of USD $120 million.
Mimbula Minerals Limited now seeks to employ experienced and qualified individual in the following position:
Mine Manager
He/She will report to the General Manager and be responsible for all aspects of operations of the open pit mine, including mine projects and supervision of mine earthworks, contractors and the associated infrastructure including interfacing with all other disciplines necessary for safe and efficient mine production.. .
Job Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership necessary to ensure that employees and any contractor adhere to safety and environmental standards that meet or exceed industry standards and any applicable legislation
• Training and development of supervisory and middle management employees to ensure that the mining production requirements are aligned to productivity, efficiency requirements and targets by creating a motivated and unified performance driven team
• Manage mining operations to ensure that all equipment is operated in the most cost effective manner and productivity targets are met or exceeded.
• Oversee the development and implementation of budgets and Life of Mine plans.
• Oversee and assist in the development, implementation and monitoring systems and procedures to ensure operational targets are met, costs are minimized and all adverse variations are reported and remedied.
• Provide support to review every aspect of the mining maintenance and technical Services to ensure that opportunities to add value and increase stakeholder wealth are identified and implemented.
• Set and manage KPI’s for direct reports to achieve operational objectives
• Manage and control mining and production activity to achieve economic targets as planned
• Create a working environment which ensures that employees gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programmes.
• Ensure training and coaching is provided to all employees, with specific attention to implementation of defined Succession Plan.
• Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness by promoting good Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
• Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
• Coordinate workplace inspections to identify conditions or practices that have the potential for loss. Immediately correct substandard conditions and practices to minimize employee accidents, property and environmental damage
• Deliver required BCM’s and grades as in accordance with the mine plan and budget, and deliver yields as per budget.

 Job Qualifications
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience, with at least 10 years’ experience as a Mining Superintendent or above position on a surface (Open pit) mine. Experience in an open pit mining operations utilizing large scale mining equipment such as drill rigs, hauling and excavating machines with massive blasting experience is mandatory
• Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering or other related qualification from reputable university is a must
• Current and valid membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
• Demonstrable ability to motivate and lead teams of highly skilled and experienced personnel having diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Holder of Zambian driver’s licence
• High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia
• Valid blasting and mining certificate
• Proficiency in the preparation of operating and capital budgets
Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications
• Proven track record in the production and safety environment
• Confident communicator with senior management, legal entities and external stakeholders
Job Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma
