ABOUT
ActionAid International is a global federation working for a world free from poverty and injustice. The two entities are part of a broader multi-country programme aimed at transforming societies to become more just, feminist, green, and resilient in the face of the current climate crisis. The programme uses humanitarian and, development efforts in a complementary manner engaging directly with young people as actors of change.

POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of the position will be to focus on the interlinkages between Development and Humanitarian Nexus in the context of climate change in the respective country programming. Furthermore, the advisor will contribute to the strategic guidance and advice on nexus programming with a point of departure in the humanitarian challenges linked to climate induced displacement and fragility. Additionally, the purpose will be to enhance and inform fundraising and resource mobilization needs within the respective areas of Humanitarian Nexus and Climate justice within both respective countries and provide support where needed to long term relevant and innovative climate justice and green initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Link technical knowledge to programming knowledge in supporting IDPs to build long term resilience.
• Build technical knowledge support to develop a mapping tool which identifies national policy gaps where interventions could potentially support social justice in humanitarian settings and increase AA Zimbabwe’s and AA Zambia’s humanitarian programming and policy footprint.
• Support to research to enhance AAZimbabwe and AAZambia ‘s interventions on Nexus Programming and implementation.
• Develop and review nexus programming tools, mechanisms, and processes on a regular basis to ensure that AA Zambia and AA Zimbabwe humanitarian programming is responsive to emerging needs
• Provide best practices which exemplify how programming on climate justice nexus (interlinking SO2 and SO3) could look when successful.
• Support follow up and implementation planning of national and regional relevant research products around climate justice and humanitarian nexus.
• Provide technical knowledge and advice on tools which could be used to develop and pilot green alternative solutions which promote climate resilience, focusing on community-based livelihoods and agroecology.
• Including alternatives which could lead to resilience, focusing on Focus on community-based livelihoods and agroecology.
• Advise and support on the Global Climate Justice campaign interaction and involvement in both countries.
• Enhance and inform fundraising and resource mobilization within the respective areas of Humanitarian Nexus and Climate justice within both respective countries.
• Support in-country and cross-country learning processes

QUALIFICATIONS
• A university degree, preferably a master’s degree in relevant subject areas such as environmental studies, social sciences, development studies, economics, or a related discipline.
• Graduate diplomas and certificates in the field will also be considered favourably.

DISIRED EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
• At least 2 years of experience with climate justice programming, specifically with alternative green solutions, environmental management or similar with a particular focus on sectors as mining, agriculture, industrial production.
• Strong and documented experience from the region and specifically the Zambia/Zimbabwe context is highly desirable.
• Have solid experience working in fragile/humanitarian contexts with a particular focus on nexus programming,
• Programming experience from crisis situations, food security or agroecology,
• Experience and good understanding of international policy making and advocacy,
• International experience around international humanitarian work, advocacy or climate justice, working in similar context and organisations, in advisory role,
• Ability to translate own knowledge into relevant advice at local level,
• Knowledge and experience supporting youth-led action.

• Strong leadership, conceptual, analytical and innovation skills,
• Have high degree of integrity and dependability,
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated,
• Excellent communication and presentation skills,
• Excellent knowledge and use of internet, and software packages (i.e. MS Office, etc.);
• Strong skills in managing partnerships and capacity building of local structures,
• Team player with strong experience in multi-cultural and multi-cultural environments,
• Project and programme management experience dealing with multiple stakeholders.
