Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academics (a) Job Purpose The Deputy Vice Chancellor is the Chief Academic Officer of the University. S/he reports to the Vice Chancellor in providing strategic leadership, planning, implementing, monitoring and controlling of institutional activities. He/she is accountable to Senate for the academic administration, planning and development of the University.
Main Accountabilities The duties of the Deputy Vice Chancellor include:
• Providing vision and leadership for all University academic activities and strategic planning, including oversight of the academic budget.
• Coordinating academic, research and consultancy activities of the University.
• Directing and monitoring the implementation of the University Strategic plan.
• Coordinating Staff Development Programmes
• Fostering an environment that promotes equity and inclusion and where creativity, scholarship, research and teaching excellence can flourish and where students and academic members can excel.
• Performing duties of the office of the Vice Chancellor in his/her absence
• Performing any other relevant duties as may be delegated by the Vice Chancellor
Qualification and Experience • Grade 12 certificate (with five O levels of credits or better) or its equivalent
• Holder of an authenticated earned Doctorate Degree, Masters and Bachelor’s degree from accredited and recognized Universities
• Demonstrable academic leadership
• A track record of personal achievement in both teaching, research, consultancy, and strategic planning
• Demonstrable analytical, ICT, administrative and financial management abilities
• Should have attained a minimum rank of Senior Lecturer in a reputable higher learning Institution
• Have a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience at management level in the University or similar institution
• Demonstrable experience in resource mobilization
• Demonstrable leadership in research through mentorship and publications in peer-reviewed journals

Quality Assurance Manager
Qualifications • Grade 12 certificate
• Must have a Bachelors Degree in Education, Business Administration, Library Information Studies or any Social Science
• A Masters Degree in Education Quality Assurance is an added advantage
• Proficient in Microsoft office (excel, word and use of power point)
• Teaching methodology certificate will be an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities • Support the assessment and Regulations Manager to ensure the development of fit for purpose QA policies and procedures and monitor implementation and effectiveness of same.
• Coordinate and oversee the process for learner complaints, Academic impropriety etc and ensure correct processes are implemented in this regard in line with the Oak Quality Assurance protocols.
• Act as desk reviewer for all programme validations and reviews.
• Support the institutional review process and the completion of institutional self evaluation.
• Ensure the Dean is notified of new programme validations or changes to validated programme for setting up the programme on the student management system.
• Liase with the IT team for the management of the curriculum set up on the student management system. Ensure that the programmes are accurately uploaded onto the student management system as per the Approved programme schedules.
• Establish, monitor and maintain a central library of documentation pertaining to the activities of the academic affairs department and ensure the consistent application of a robust version control process.
• Keep an accurate record of all approved programme schedules and dates in which they are due for their next review.
• Assist the wider academic affairs team in the completion of administration where required and specifically support the assessment and regulations team in the completion of team responsibilities.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Research: to be responsible for the conduct of research, pursuit of innovation and consultancy management of the University. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Research will be expected to provide strong leadership, demonstrate planning, implementing, monitoring and controlling abilities of the staff involved in research the University. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Research acts according to the relevant policies and procedures and the general framework of the University regarding all aspects of managing the research, innovation and consultancy activities and is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of such activities, accountable to the University’s Senate.
Qualification and experience: • Grade 12 certificate (with five O levels) or its equivalent.
• Holder of an authentic PhD, Masters and Bachelor’s degrees from accredited and recognized Universities.
• A CV that demonstrates innovation, research and publication history.
• Senior level management experience of at least 8 years in a recognized higher learning institution.
• Should have demonstrable knowledge and experience in ICT, and online learning
Key Responsibilities: • Assigning objectives and goals to the different university departments for the conduct of research, pursuit of innovation and consultancy management
• Responsible for supervising the university efforts in terms of promoting research, innovation and consultancy.
• Lead the University’s efforts to source external research funding.
• Ensuring coherent communication between and within the university departments.
• Making sure that research outcomes, knowledge and innovation are promoted and transmitted efficiently and effectively.
• Networking and liaising with external bodies / professionals in order to strengthen the University’s academic status in terms of research, innovation and consultancy.
• Participate in meetings with academic / other staff and internal / external stakeholders.
• Manage all the University’s academic, research, innovation and consultancy activities
• Direct and monitor the implementation of the University’s strategic plan with regards to research, innovation and consultancy.
• Liaising with external stakeholders to develop and maintain university partnerships for research, innovation and consultancy.
• To perform any other relevant duties as delegated by the VC.
