Job Opportunities
• Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LpWSC), is a Commercial Utility mandated to provide water supply and sanitation services to the urban and the rural areas of Luapula Province. The Company operates under the legal framework as outlined in the Water Supply and Sanitation Act No. 28 of 1997.
• The Commercial Utility was incorporated under the Companies Act Cap 338 of the laws of Zambia and operates in five out of the twelve districts in the province, namely Mansa, Nchelenge, Mwense, Kawambwa and Samfya. The Commercial Utility, being an equal opportunity employer, seeks to recruit high profiled, self-motivated, innovative, honest, committed, adequately and appropriately experienced person to fill the vacant position of Operations Engineer to be based in Mansa.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervises and schedules the operations of water and sewerage treatment plants so as to achieve the desired quality service delivery by implementing the pumping plans.
• Prepares and submits the district operations budget for consolidation into a district budget and Companywide budget.
• Allocates resources, equipment, and tools to facilitate smooth workflow.
• Ensures appropriate reporting on water production, vehicle utilisation,
chemical consumption and stocking and labour availability status on a daily basis.
• Ensures effective management of water reservoirs to ensure continuous water supply and manage the leak detection and repair programmes in the district.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance and replacement programme to service, maintain and replace infrastructure as the case may be.
• Ensures that water interruptions pending repairs and maintenance works are communicated to the commercial department to alert customers affected.
• Implement the planned metering programme in order to achieve the agreed targets on meter installations.
• Ensures safe working practices and availability of safety clothing for staff in the department.
• Submits daily, monthly, quarterly reports as required for management information and reporting.
• Supervises, coaches, motivates, develops, and disciplines subordinates.
• Monitors, reviews, and agrees on performance of subordinates to ensure that they meet their agreed targets.
• Undertakes any other duties as may be assigned to him by the District Manager

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
• Full Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent
• BSc degree civil, mechanical or water engineering
• 5 years’ experience in a water utility or related undertaking.
• Member of EIZ with a valid practicing license,
• Good communicator both verbal and written with excellent planning and coordinating skills.
