Good Nature Agro is a legume seed company founded to profitably move farmers out of poverty and into the middle class. We believe that the future of agriculture in Africa is disaggregated, with smallholders as the most powerful producers for local, regional, and global markets. We have overseen consistent annual growth in our supply chain with a network of over 20,000 smallholder farmers, as well as a reliable network of commercial growers.
In recent years we have expanded beyond Zambia, added new product lines and revenue streams and have continued to strengthen our services to both growers and customers with investments in technology and integrated market access for customers of Good Nature Seed.
Furthermore, GNA is the largest processor of groundnuts, soybeans and beans in Zambia having made strategic investments in manufacturing facilities and equipment to enable quality processing of seed and commodity for domestic and international sales. As such, the Operations Manager - Processing becomes an integral position as GNA seeks to optimize manufacturing, enhance capacity throughout the country and internationally and also diversify processing capabilities in the coming years.
Position Purpose:
The Operations Manager - Processing will be responsible for optimizing processing and warehousing
activities across all facilities under management, as well as aligning GNA’s manufacturing capabilities to prepare for increased production, diversified production and vertical integration. The job holder will also be responsible for certification and subsequent implementation of recognized international standards for manufacturing and warehousing of seed, commodity and food stuffs.
Facilities under Management:
1. Lusaka – 10,000 MT annual capacity; primary processing facility for groundnuts, with capacity for
hard grains – beans, soybeans.
2. Chipata – 10,000 MT annual capacity; primary processing facility for soybeans; with capacity for groundnuts.
3. Kasama – 1,000 MT annual capacity; light processing of beans (seed and commodity)
Candidate Profile:
• Business oriented with a strong understanding of how processing returns drive the margins of the business.
• Proven track record optimizing performance across multiple manufacturing facilities.
• Hands on approach to removing bottlenecks through implementation of process flows.
• Established leader dedicated to instructing, guiding and developing high functioning teams.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex, high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Best-in-Class Certification
• Steward the development of GNA’s annual and multi-year processing strategies.
• Align capital expenditure and acquisition requirements for new machinery with GNA’s 10-year business plan.
• Guide GNA’s efforts to become a best-in-class processor of seed, commodity and food stuffs.
• Maintain responsibility for the implementation of applicable national and international protocols on OHS and ESG.
• Create, implement and manage the annual budget for the Processing Department.

Processing
• Lead and manage teams across all GNA facilities under management.
• Ensure effective management of all casual/general labour and ensure that all hiring practices are undertaken in accordance with GNA’s internal protocols.
• Continuous review of SOPs and manufacturing protocols to maximize output, manage costs and ensure quality processing of raw materials into finished goods.
• Set efficiency parameters through regular testing of machine output to minimize waste and downtime.
• Close collaboration with sales and production to effectively plan for and deliver on sales orders in accordance with customer specifications.
• Ensure that all processed goods adhere to relevant internal, domestic or international standards.

• Ability to achieve results and work cross-functionally in dynamic, high-pressure environment Stores & Warehouse Management
• Maintain diligent oversight over use of ERP – raw material in and finished goods out to have real time information on inventory held at any one time.
• Ensure that all facilities under management, including rural warehousing, adhere to strict internal and regulated standards.

Facilities Management + Security
• Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all GNA Facilities
• Responsible for ensuring the security of all GNA Facilities.
• Ensure that all security guards, GNA staff and visitors adhere to security protocols
Minimum Qualifications:
• 10 years’ experience in the agricultural sector in a senior management role
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in agricultural science or related field
• Certified seed inspector (SCCI or equivalent certification)
• Extensive experience managing smallholder crop production across multiple crops and geographies
• Deep understanding of the legumes value chain in Zambia; expertise in groundnuts an asset
• Proven ability to remotely supervise managerial staff and associated field teams
• Highly developed project management skills
