Reporting to: Regional Procurement Specialist

Purpose

The Procurement Intern will support implementation of NBI procurement policy, Strategy and related actions geared at operationalization of the organization’s procurement plans.

Duties & Responsibilities

The position will ensure the following duties, and key result areas are performed:

  • Provide an efficient and flexible procurement service which will deliver optimum value for money, cost savings and best quality of service
  • Support NELSAP projects on the implementation of their procurement plans
  • Support the Regional Procurement Specialist and project procurement staff in executing procurement activities including tender process, supplier relationships and contract management processes for goods and services and works.
  • Assist in procurement record management and documentation according to NELSAP and any applicable donor procurement guidelines
  • Assist Project teams with purchases and order enquiries
  • Ensure procurements are properly approved in terms of NELSAP’s authority levels and procurements are raised using the appropriate forms
  • Assist projects and programs in ensuring compliance with procurement guidelines and reporting obligations.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills and years of experience required

  • Possession of at least Bachelor’s degree (at least Lower Second class) in Procurement, Engineering, Laws, Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Administration, from a recognised University.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to involve key stakeholders;
  • Ability to maintain concentration on work subject to frequent interruptions;
  • Ability to work in a multi-task and multi-deadline environment;
  • Ability to set goals towards meeting set deadlines;
  • Fluency in English with working knowledge of French;
  • Excellent writing, analytical, presentation, and reporting skills; and
  • Demonstrated Computer Proficiency.
