JOB DETAILS:
The Procurement Officer/Pharmacy will work closely with the Head of Supply Chain and the other key stakeholders in preparing weekly and monthly supply chain management reports related to procurement and will also be responsible for drug mapping. Oversee the management of leases, contracts and agreements for services and goods.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
• Take the lead in analysing and calculating costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure
• Keep abreast with Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority regulations governing the pharmaceutical industry on local purchases.
• Ensure all procurement activities are carried out in line with donor requirements
• Work with the Head of Supply Chain to oversee procurement processes, including review of purchase requisitions, request for quotations, supplier selection, negotiations, purchase and delivery forms
• Conduct monthly and quarterly cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
• Frequently collect and update Head of Supply Chain on revised drug cost prices from suppliers.
• Lead key strategic regional Supply Chain End to End projects.
• Dynamically manage capital information, allocation and Utopia process
• Help to drive site manufacturing strategies for improvement
• Enable accurate information gathering, analysis and present to support decision-making
• Lead network studies for increased service, reduced cost and working capital
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of network trends and developments in areas of interest to the organisation by reading relevant academic research, learned publications and suppliers’ information
• Required Key Attributes

• A strong knowledge base in pharmaceuticals and ability to draw frequently from technical knowledge

• Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications & Experience
• Advanced Diploma in CIPS or related
• A Degree in Purchasing and Supply /Pharmacy will be a plus
• Must have at least a minimum of 4 years of experience in Procurement of Pharmaceutical / Medical Products / Consumables
• Working experience as Pharmacy Technician will be a plus
• Must be keen to work with an early-stage start-up, commitment to helping Zambia business grow, and passion for healthcare in Africa
• Should be well vested with sourcing and vendor management and relevant software
• Must demonstrate knowledge of the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) regulation
• Demonstrated commercial acumen
• Must possess a cross-functional business process knowledge
• Demonstrated track record of working on complex problem solving, tight deadlines with quick turnaround times.
• Must be a member of a relevant professional body (CIPS/ ZIPS)
