Programmes Manager
Overview

Our client in the tourism sector seeks to recruit a Programmes Manager for the project they are undertaking in generating educational and economic outcomes for children and families who have been historically unsupported by available social services. You will be responsible for providing oversight and strategic direction across all areas of operation. This includes directly supervising and supporting the Programme Officers and managerial staff and indirectly supervising and supporting the field staff in all four locations.

Job Description
• Providing oversight and strategic direction across all areas of operation
• Directly supervising and supporting the Programme Officers and managerial staff and indirectly supervising and supporting the field staff in all four locations
• Offering weekly guidance and support on programme planning, working with the teams to track programme activities and outcomes
• Diligent oversight of the organisation’s monitoring and evaluation to ensure all data requirements are met
• Implementation and careful oversight of the organisation’s strategic plan and consistent tracking of programme activities and outcomes to target
• Addressing bottlenecks to progress, preparing and monitoring programme budgets, report writing, grant writing, financial management and oversight, as well as HR administration
• Ensure stakeholder engagement and relationships are on track, including donor reporting and engagement

Candidate Specification
Experience: 5 years plus
Education Level: Degree
Qualifications: At least 5 years’ experience living and working in rural communities in Africa, At least 3 years’ experience managing and reporting on project budgets exceeding $300,000 USD, At least 3 years’ active involvement with monitoring and evaluation
Software: MS Office
Equipment: Job related
Knowledge Of; Fluency in English (other languages a plus – especially French, Chinyanja and/or siLozi), familiarity and interest in working with vulnerable children, at least 3 years’ experience working in senior programmes management
Skills To: Excellent leadership and management skills with ability to map and manage diverse employee and stakeholder relationships, extremely comfortable and enthusiastic with field-based community projects, strong analytical skills
Ability To: Proficiency with thinking through and actioning multiple plans in areas that pose logistical challenges, ability to deliver efficiently and eloquently on report writing and communication tasks
Other Requirements: English writing/grammar skills, public speaker, financial management, manage specific contracts and/or projects, manage the demands of field work with deskbound deliverables, working remotely and with teams in different time zones and locations
