Project Intern
(Reports to Programs Manager | Head of Operations – on Finance/Admin | a dotted line to the Hub Manager – Lusaka)
Key deliverables of the Project
Live Well is currently looking to recruit an intern to pilot a digital solution through the implementation of an intervention that will deliver health services to 5,000 children. Under this pilot, you will recruit, train, supply, and supervise the delivery of the high impact intervention within the Program Implementation Division. This will be done through a 6 months pilot in Lusaka Province aimed at:
• administering Vitamin, A to all eligible children
• administering deworming medicine to all eligible children
• Screening for malnutrition and referring children for treatment as needed, and
• Onboard households that have a smartphone with chatbot capabilities
Project Delivery
• Recruitment and Training: recruit and train community health entrepreneurs (CHEs) to deliver the intervention, including how to use the app and the chatbot.
• Service Delivery: verify delivery through the use of the app throughout the pilot period.
• Monitoring: select 2% of the households served to conduct spot checks on using the app.
• Data and Learnings:
• Ensure standard data sharing agreement are signed
• Share a final report including key learnings and the impact created through the pilot period
• Share general learnings on the experience, including short surveys conducted during the pilot
• User testing performed in 10 households to give feedback on usability, feasibility, and applicability
• The implementation has to be considered safe and has written support from the local government and community.
Specific responsibilities of the intern:
Programme Management
• Monitors and analyses project development and implementation
• Plan and execute project activities in a timely and accurate manner
• Prepare project activity reports, monthly, quarterly and pilot closure reports
• Analyze and identify project problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions
• Identifying and contacting new project partners at community and district levels for collaborations
• Represents the programs manager in project meetings and other related platforms and maintain frequent communication with project partners including government line ministries and departments.
• Responsible for project activity budget preparations and expense management including accountability of the project activity budgets.
Management
• Coach CHEs to achieve targets
• Lead weekly / monthly meeting with CHEs
• Monthly and quarterly work plan for the pilot project
• Weekly and Monthly Stock reconciliation of the commodities
• Manage Live Well CHEs Coaching and Performance Management
• Ensure all CHEs know and follow health protocols (reporting adverse events)
• Contribute new ideas and lead innovations/experiments to improve the business model
• Drive CHE retention, with 90% of trained CHEs active per month throughout the pilot period
Commodity/Stock Management
• Support CHEs build strong community relations
• Review sales performance and contribute to forecasting
• Plan and oversee marketing and promotional activities to hit project targets.
• Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports explaining performance vs. targets
• Take orders from CHEs and accurately forecast demand to reduce inventory movements
• Regularly report & review CHE performance + develop and implement performance strategies
• May occasionally be required to work on weekends &/ public holidays for which time of lieu will be granted
Mobilization and Training
• Mobilization and Recruitment of CHE
• Lead CHE recruitment and train to deliver the pilot, including how to use the delivery app and the chatbot
• Providing any other training (refresher / one-on-one sessions / follow-ups) as needed during the pilot perio
Education and Experience
• Candidate should have a minimum of a diploma in ICT
• Experience working for a social enterprise / NGO will be an added advantage
• M & E knowledge and experience is required
• At least 6 – 12 months working experience in project management including ICT
