JOB DETAILS:
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for providing effective project management initiatives for the feasibility study of the project. You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best team. You will be expected to perform your duties in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
• Working with stakeholders to develop project charters, project scoping, cost benefit analysis, writing of AFE’s, and HSE plans for successful project execution.
• Demonstrate strong, effective, and decisive project leadership and establish an execution framework to ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability of the total project execution.
• Ensure Safety, Health and Environment standards are maintained and is emphasized throughout the project.
• Planning, scheduling, budgeting, progress monitoring and reporting in MS Projects.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams involved in the feasibility study and project delivery.
• To deliver project management technical and engineering solutions with associated governance assurance.
• Coordinate desktop, feasibility definitive feasibility, and detailed engineering studies.
• Ensure optimum design and that mining methods are selected accurately.
• Co-ordinate trade-off studies to optimise project (Backfill, Hoisting System, Mining Method Selection etc).
• Draft scopes of work and manage contracts associated with the project.
• Ensure construction of critical infrastructure to enable a smooth transition from feasibility to production.
• Select suitable equipment to implement and execute the project.
• Ensure adequate governance of the project.
• Present regular progress updates to senior management, including corporate. These updates will include project progress on feasibility, design, execution, and associated budgets.
• Ensure project financial, budget control and quality control.
• Monitoring of and reporting on technical designs.
• Managing the change process with regard to any deviations to project activities and scope of work.
• Legal, Audit, Governance and SHEQ Compliance.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Mining / Metallurgy.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• At least 10 years’ experience in the mining industry with a focus on feasibility studies and project evaluation.
• 5 years project management experience.
• Computer Skills – must have strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
