The N50 Project Manager-Luumbo will ensure all on-site hardware and supporting equipment is working at all times and ensure all project deliverables are met. The equipment will range from computers, tablets, micro servers, power solutions, software and any other supporting equipment supplied by iSchool. The Project Manager will have the overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring & controlling and successful closure of the project. Key among other duties is the recognition that risk directly impacts the likelihood of success and that this risk must be both formally and informally measured throughout the lifetime of a project.
Duties
Her/his duties will include but not be limited to:
• Stakeholder engagement-To actively engage with all stakeholders during the lifespan of the project and communicate effectively on project progress and deliverables. Stakeholders will include but not limited to Village headmen, School leadership, Religious leaders, Content providers, other NGOs within the community etc.
• Sourcing and Provision of Appropriate Content- Through innovative partnerships with leading digital content houses (e.g. ZNBC, Lusaka Play House, Diamond TV) the Project Manager will source content that will be appropriate and life transforming for the Luumbo community.
• Data Management/Harvesting/Reporting- To apply the agreed project management framework reliably in order to ensure that correct data is harvested and reported back to all relevant stake holders. This will also involve getting stakeholder feedback that will inform to future content changes and ensure that correct content that meets the Luumbo community needs is provided.
• Hand in hand with the Community Engagement Officer; proactively monitor users’ activity within the available systems and engage the community at an early stage in cases where the results are showing negative trends in terms of how often the community is accessing the available content.
• Lead on the identification, advocacy and implementation of new opportunities within the project scope. Identify opportunities that the business can tap in to within the Luumbo community that can be of benefit to both the community and the business.
• Risk Assessment and Management- To act as key adviser to the Country Manager and the project team (organization as a whole) in risk assessment/identification and mitigation. She/he will suggest corrective action as appropriate so that the project is sustained and implemented with minimal risks within the agreed decision making process/project governance arrangements.
• Resource Mobilization- To help relevant departmental stakeholders ensure that necessary people resources/skills are available to meet project timelines and resource requirements.
• Device Installation/Synchronization- properly installing and commissioning Wi-Fi/internet, micro servers and power solutions at the school/Community hall and ensuring that any hardware and content provided by Mwabu performs to specification at all times.
• Onsite Support and Equipment Servicing- Troubleshooting, testing, repairing and servicing of all Mwabu installed equipment. This will also involve diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions
EDUCATION/TRAINING
• Graduate level or equivalent professional qualification in Computer Science or ICT with Education/Education with ICT.
• Or Diploma Level with extensive relevant Project and Programme management of ICT programs.
• Prince 2 or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role with a traceable track record.
• Excellent knowledge and experience of using project/change management concepts and methodologies e.g. PRINCE2
• Practical experience of installing and commissioning computer systems and equipment in field locations
• Experience in managing stakeholder relationships within complex projects with the ability to manage and resolve conflict
• Experience of risk identification, mitigation, and management
SKILLS
• Excellent demonstrated IT skills within a high profile IT project.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to gain the respect with a team
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to plan and deliver objectives within an agreed timeframe.
• Ability to use, repair and maintain devices and tools
