About the role of Project Officer – Economic Empowerment
Sightsavers is expanding its new programmatic area in economic empowerment that advocates for local business to successfully employ people living with disabilities whilst supporting people living with disabilities to develop skills, confidence and experience to successfully gain employment.
The Project team are actively looking for Project Officers to join their team to support the project work. Key to this role is knowledge and previous experience of labour market issues, labour market assessments, skills training and development, disability inclusion and job placements and fairs. Strong project management and partnership building.
As a Project Officer you will support the Economic Empowerment project to manage activities and relationships with key stakeholders and ensure the project is planned, implemented, coordinated, monitored, evaluated, and adapted to the highest possible quality standards.
Project Officer key duties and accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Project Delivery – Working with the project management team and other funding / resources partner to coordinate implementation of activities and sharing of lessons learned; managing the project cycle with partners; liaising and working with the Global Technical Leads (Disability Inclusive Economic Empowerment) and external partners
Monitoring Evaluation and Learning – Supporting tool development i.e. ILO tool, Three Circles Tool, informed consent forms, feedback forms, participant registration forms; supporting adaptive learning through implementing tools, events and processes such as learning logs, action learning groups, qualitative and quantitative data collection tools; documenting learning and adaptation to feedback into project design; supporting the project team, global teams and GTLs; supporting and collaborating with external stakeholders, partners and participants; advocating for ethics and data protection through protocol development.
Working with partners – Identifying suitable organizations to partner with to achieve the project and organization’s strategic objective – equal rights and opportunities for people living with disabilities; building long term partner relationships through advocacy and sharing of information; ensuring partner capacity building and technical needs are supported.
Financial and resource management -Monitoring expenditure of project financial resources with team support; working with partners regarding budget and forecast preparation, audits, timely reporting.
Information and communication management – Supporting fundraising and advocacy materials through provision of high quality information on case studies and news stories relating to the projects; participating in PR activities related to disability inclusive employment, education and social inclusion.

Jobholder Requirements
Essential:
• Proven experience of labour market issues, including labour market assessments, skills training/development, internships, disability inclusion, job placements, job fairs
• Strong project monitoring, evaluation and learning experience
• Previous experience designing, managing and carrying out advocacy work for social inclusion/disability projects
• Tertiary degree in social sciences, development, public health for example
• Familiar with national legislation and policies within disability, human rights and employment
• Excellent project implementation working knowledge within the disability sector/ gender mainstreaming
• Previous provision of technical assistance to external organizations.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Current and ongoing right to work in Zambia.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of current issues and best practices in disability, UNCRPD, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and employment.
Next Steps
We will begin a two-stage recruitment process from 7 November 2022 onwards. This will consist of a written task conducted at the country office for shortlisted candidates. Successful candidates will then be invited to a face-to-face interview at the country office. We reserve the right to extend this process if required.
