M31 Research is seeking experienced Qualitative Research Assistants to support upcoming studies in various sectors including health, education, agriculture, and WASH. The successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in conducting Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), In-Depth Interviews (IDIs), participant observations, and managing audio recordings and verbatim transcriptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct qualitative interviews and discussions in line with research protocols.
- Accurately record, transcribe, and translate interviews into English.
- Observe and document behaviours and settings using structured tools.
- Uphold ethical standards and ensure informed consent throughout data collection.
- Submit high-quality transcripts and field reports within set deadlines
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification in social sciences, public health, development studies, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in qualitative data collection.
- Proven ability to conduct interviews with diverse groups, including community members and high-level stakeholders.
- Excellent transcription and translation skills.
- Fluency in English and at least one or more local languages (Bemba, Nyanja, Tonga, Lozi, Kaonde, Lunda, Luvale, etc.)
- Familiarity with ethical research practices and culturally appropriate engagement
Desirable Skills
- Prior work on donor-funded research or evaluation projects.
- Experience working in both rural and urban Zambian contexts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of qualitative data
