What you can expect
The incumbent will be responsible to consistently seek for new opportunities, ensure relationship management distributors, implement marketing and sustainability strategies in crop protection, and ensure accurate annual and monthly forecasting to achieve sales targets. Duties will include the following:
• Implement strategic agenda in the respective region
• Support strategic product positioning within the region as guided by NSM and Marketing
• Be a role model in all matters concerning compliance, anti-trust, and business ethics
• Promote BASF’s range of product on farm level and distributor level
• Convert and report on-farm demand discussions into actual distributor sales including a follow-up to ensure product delivery
• Establish regular meetings with distributors and end-customers to capture maximum sales, accurate forecasting and results through recording minutes of meeting
• Monitor monthly stock movements internally from distributors to farmers and submit regular accurate product forecasts
• Monitor debtors internally and externally (i.e. know the position of distributor accounts)
• Develop tactical sales plans (customer segmentation, contact frequency, and communication campaigns) for your region and execute these plans
• Provide on-farm and distributor product training in collaboration with technical teams
• Ensure advanced planning and execution of farmer events in your specified regions in collaboration with marketing teams
• Identify gaps within the market and contribute to the development of new product portfolio
• Monitor and gather competitor marketing activities and report to NSM on a frequent basis
• Development of farmer database by farm and by crop
What we expect
• Degree/Diploma in Agriculture, Sales and Marketing or Business Administration
• 5 years’ experience in a similar position will be an added advantage
• Well-informed and experienced with the farming dynamics in Zambia
• Chemical Crop Protection, seed, or fertilizer sales experience in applicable crops within the region
