The INCREASE Project
1. Introduction
According to the INCREASE project result framework the project has a target of influencing more than 11,300 farmers to adopt Climate Smart Practices in agriculture, energy and water use efficiency by the end of December this year. One of the ways the project triggers the direct influence for the adoption is through Climate Smart Agriculture demo establishments, extension services and Climate Smart Agriculture practice trainings that are centred on Lead Farmers with the help of IMPULS Africa extension officers and the government extension.
In accordance with the project reaching out to many adopters and reinforcement of the key concepts of Climate Smart Agriculture, energy and water use efficiency, there is need to carry out trainings for the farmers to enable management and production strategies. The trainings will cover nursery management, Agroforestry production and vegetables production. These trainings will be focused on Climate Smart Agriculture and realisation of agriculture as a business (enterprise). Thus, need for procurement of inputs, materials, stationery and other materials.
The trainings are scheduled to take place from 12th June 2023 in North-Western Province of Zambia. The trainings will thus take place in Solwezi and Kalumbila districts. The trainings will take place simultaneously in some areas. In each of the districts the trainings will be done at selected demo site for the practicability purposes thereby translating to 10 different sites for the period of the whole training. In terms of reach out, the whole trainings are expected to end up with the adoption of 450 farmers.
Since these trainings will be held in the outskirts of the targeted district, where lodges and hotels are absent, there is need for the materials to be procured in advance as sites will be more of mobile setup.
Management of procured resources, inputs and materials.
The SNV team and Impuls Africa will ensure, all the inputs, materials and resources procured are put to good use. This will be done through safety talks, monitoring of the use of the inputs and resources in the field and demo sites.
In addition to the above, the IMPULS Africa (Technical partners) who will be involved during the trainings in the two districts shall play a pivotal role in supervising the whole process from all the training sessions to field activities.
