Purpose Statement:
The Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) is a Humanitarian Organization established in 1966 by an Act of Parliament CAP 307 of the laws of Zambia as an auxiliary institution that augments government efforts in humanitarian assistance. ZRCS is part of the International Red Cross movement known as International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). In line with its mandate, ZRCS works with various actors in collaboration with Government of Zambia in responding to both man-made and natural disasters.
The organization is looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and inquisitive professional to take up the position of Resource Mobilization Officer. Working with the Business Development Manager, the RM Officer will be the main focal point for all the organization’s fundraising strategies and activities. His/her role will be to lead the charge in defining the organization’s resource mobilization strategy, identifying fundraising and donor opportunities, building relationships and positioning Zambia Red Cross Society as the humanitarian organization of choice for all funding opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate the implementation of the organization’s resource mobilization strategy
• Identify and map out key institutions and stakeholders as potential fundraising partners
• Conduct market assessment in line with the funding priorities and trends, and update the Business Development Manager and team on a regular basis
• Build and document sound relationships with institutional funders and potential government departments and position ZRCS for partnerships.
• Assist in the production of appropriate marketing materials, e.g. capability statements, Past Performance Reports etc. for positioning and proposal writing/development.
• Coordinate and contribute to the design, writing, review and approval of project proposals and concept papers for submission to stakeholders/Partners.
• Regularly track opportunities and report back to other team members.
Key Skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Development studies, Economics, Business and Management Studies or Social Sciences
• At least 3 years’ work experience in a humanitarian environment with a focus on resource mobilization or fundraising
• Knowledge of the Red Cross movement including its funding operations an advantage
• Demonstrable proposal writing skills
• Ability to engage with various professionals and heads of operations at the highest levels
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Experience in strategic planning and implementation an added advantage
