JOB DETAILS:
Purpose
SCOPE
• All Mansa Sugar Limited and Contractor companies both Factory and Agro Sites

Key Responsibilities
The incumbent shall be responsible for;
· Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at Mansa Sugar Limited
· Actively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and implement change as directed by management team
· Actively Promote, monitor, and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices
· Ensure all incidents are reported and investigate according to company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed
· Identifying the risks in their work area and using the correct controls
· Reporting to the supervisor immediately any actual or potential unsafe conditions or activities, mishaps, incidents, accidents, injuries or illness in the workplace
· Assisting new employees in the application of the proper work procedure and practices.
· Using personal protective clothing or equipment as provided.
· Reporting any defective or damaged personal protective clothing, equipment, or gear and returning the item to the supervisor for replacement or repair
· Complying with instructions given pertaining to the use of personal protective clothing, equipment or gear or any matter in relation to health and safety
· Not interfering with anything that has been provided in the interest of health and safety in the workplace
· Not engaging in any duties that require a certificate or written authorization unless the relevant certificate or permit is held.
· Not attempting any task unless they are trained, capable and competent to safely perform the task
· Cooperating fully with any rehabilitation program to assist recovery from injury or illness for themselves or any other person
· Administer the annual health and safety department training plan by training needs analysis against annual health and safety plan and current competency levels
· Continually review progress against the training plan and continually reconcile against against the health and safety plan and vary as necessary
· Cascade business objectives through the training team to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes.
· Liaise with other training professionals across the operation to ensure training activity is coordinated and application of MSL is consistent to safety standards.
· Assist in developing and improving Health and Safety training to ensure optimal efficiency by the health and safety department and other key targets.
· Ensure the regular review of training processes and systems and investigate, assess and where appropriate, trail new methods and technology.
· Monitor targets for improvements such as safety and environmental performance, cost reduction and equipment damage.

Qualifications
· Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Studies or related field
Experience
· At least 3 years’ traceable experience preferably in a busy set up

Operational Requirements
· Ready to work out side working hours.
· Good Organisational Ability
· Good knowledge of applicable safety regulation
