Sales Manager (General Trade)
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Country Sales Manager, the Sales Manager will accomplish business development activities by developing marketing opportunities and plans; implementing sales plans; managing staff members as well as distributors and key accounts in the General Trade, across Zambia
Key Responsibilities
1. Executes strategic marketing & sales plans and forecasts, to maximize brand potential and expand on the availability of our brands in Zambia
2. Support the country sales manager in managing sales and marketing department personnel, and directly managing key customer accounts, across the general trade
3. Oversees advertising and promotion activities (below the line)
4. Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets
5. Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities
6. Implement and manage efficient route to market to ensure shorted available time for product distribution
7. Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product
8. Meets with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals
9. Manage and control the depot inventory of inputs, grain and finished products and oversee regular reconciliations of stock; must carry out random cross check of physical stock on a day to day/ alternate day basis.
10. Coordinates liaison between sales department, dispatch and/or production
11. Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.
12. Monitor customer accounts, and closely monitor receivables against agreed payment terms
Key Qualifications and Requirements
• Minimum 10 years’ sales/marketing experience preferably in Consumer Food Brands (FMCG), preferably 5 years in Zambia
• A degree in communication, business, sales or marketing
• Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint + Reporting skills
• Swahili language preferred
• Languages, not required but a plus (Gujarati, Nyanja, Bemba, Lunda, Lozi)
• Strong Communication & Diplomacy Skills
• Knowledge of Customer Service Skills
• 8.Innovator and a candidate who can think outside the box
