JOB DETAILS:
  Purpose
• To manage operational aspects of a multi-project exploration program in Zambia.

Job Responsibilities:
• Operational planning and oversight of drilling, geochemical, geophysical and other field programs in Zambia.
• Contract management including contract writing, assessment and negotiations with contractors and service providers.
• Monitor and advise Discovery Manager on budget tracking (outlook) and provide advice on re-allocations.
• Oversight of procurement process to ensure efficient and reliable supply chain to remote project locations.
• Ensure our work flow and project governance meets Anglo American standards.
• Ensure our work programs have the correct permissions, agreements and notifications in place regarding environmental, community, government and safety requirements.
• Train and develop staff in the area of operational management.
• Regular, ongoing communication with site based senior staff and other senior staff to ensure a coordinated operational effort.
• Regular assessment of lessons learnt from project execution with the results used in a model of continuous improvement.

Job Skills:
• Applies technical knowledge to evaluate sources of information.
• Continuously collects new and reliable information to drive continuous improvement of operational processes.
• Ability to summarise large amounts of disparate data into relevant information that can be used for decision making.
• Proactively follows up on the implementation of recommendations.

  Job Education Requirements:
• University Degree in Geology and Finance/Business education is preferred

Job Experience Requirements:
• A minimum of ten years exploration experience (Project geologist to Senior Geologist background)
• A minimum of five years working in Africa
• A minimum of three years in a leadership role
• Proven relevant experience working in support of senior management
• Prior relevant experience in the mining or resources sector is required
