Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the versatile Maintenance Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Site Engineering Superintendent, you will be responsible for assisting the Engineering Superintendent and providing coaching to mechanical engineers in management and execution of maintenance projects within the process area and across the site. This is to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions. Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
• Responsible for management of work priorities daily and ensuring that activities are undertaken in accordance with business needs.
• Actively participate in identification and implementation of projects that demonstrate working in an environment of continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with statutory acts, regulations, consent conditions and ensure that all relevant standards are adhered to in the project environment.
• Ensure personal and team compliance with statutory acts and regulations and consent conditions are met.
• Ensure controlled document management system is in place and maintained for all electronic drawings and equipment manuals.
• Conduct feasibility studies, that provides input data in capital projects.
• Actively conduct root cause analysis programs
• Carry out administrative functions.
• Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
• Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the team.
• Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
• Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in LMC’s mining activities, consistent with Barrick’s Community Relations Policies.
Experience & Qualifications
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• Minimum four (4) years experience in fixed plant and mobile maintenance engineering.
• Statutory compliant awareness – Mining Regulation and international standards
• Experience in interpretation and work with engineering drawings (mechanical)
• Basic knowledge in condition monitoring techniques
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, confident communicator with senior management, legal entities and external stakeholders.
