JOB DETAILS:
The National Assembly of Zambia which is established under Article 62 (1) of the Constitution of Zambia invites applications from qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Senior Media Liaison Officer.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To support the Principal Clerk (Public and International Relations) in identifying, setting and promoting media priorities and ensuring that the department is established as the first port-of-call for media queries:
• Liaise effectively and proactively with relevant external contacts including leading journalists, commentators and opinion-formers, across both sectoral and national media outlets:
• Develop particular expertise in several subject areas – as discussed and agreed with the Principal Clerk (Public and International Relations] and through the development of close working relationships with a range of colleagues and relevant outside organizations. Also serve as a media spokesperson on these issues, as required;
• Undertake occasional out-of-hours duties, as part of a media team roster, to help provide a service to the Institution and media stake holders:
• Working with media liaison officers from various institutions and press officers in Zambia’s missions abroad and provide accreditation; and
• Maintain communications calendars and/or budgets for all critical communication campaigns/events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Full Grade 12 Certificate, with a merit or better in English and four (4) other subjects
• Bachelors Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media & Information Studies or related field;
• Masters Degree in the above-mentioned fields will be an added advantage: A Minimum of five (5) years work experience in the same field at senior level; and
• Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications.

• Strong oral and influence skill with the ability to give advice on procedural issues:

• Ability to use online multimedia tools:
• Strong team ethic and collegial approach to work with colleagues; and
• Excellent time management and organization skills.
