Position Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Programs, the Senior Project Manager will play a key leadership role in developing appropriate financial inclusion strategies and planning processes at the national level that are aligned with Habitat’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter’s (TCIS) regional and global practices. S/he will also provide oversight to the development and implementation of the Project Plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight to the overall implementation of the project ensuring that its objectives are achieved in a timely manner in accordance with the designated budget. Supervise and support the Project Manager related to his/her performance and achievement of project results. Lead on the development of a project implementation plan in consultation with the Project Manager.
• Product Development: Lead in supporting the design and implementation of initiatives using Habitat’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) toolkit, including market research, product development/refinement, pilot testing, and monitoring and evaluation services.
Partnership Development:
• Develop and manage relationships in the country with key stakeholders in the microfinance sector, including financial service providers in collaboration with TCIS reginal staff.
• Take a strategic lead with Habitat for Humanity Zambia Resource Development, the Communication Department and other Departments to procure contracts and funds necessary to expand affordable housing finance solutions in the country.
• Market scanning Provide knowledge and expertise to conduct a market scanning exercise of various players involved in the affordable housing sector from the financial inclusive and value chain perspective.
• Advisory Services: Ensure adequate technical advisory support to partner financial institutions and financial service digital platform providers.
• Project Design: Provide a lead on the development of concept notes and generate project ideas, providing input to Resource Development and Communications Department for full-fledged proposal development.
• Safeguarding: Mainstream safeguarding in the project, jointly with other program team members ensure that project-specific safeguarding risks and mitigation measures for project participants and Habitat representatives are integrated throughout project implementation.
• Other related duties as assigned by the Head of Programs
Success Criteria:
• Number of products developed.
• Timely execution of market research.
• Number of networks established for stakeholders in microfinance, social and development finance institutions.
• Number of players involved in the affordable housing sector from financial inclusion and value chain contexts.
• Number of partner financial Institutions and financial service digital platform players provided technical advisory services timely.
• Number of concept notes and proposals focusing on affordable housing finance solutions supported.
Typical Training & Experience
Minimum:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Computer Science, Real Estate Management, Social Science or any relevant field of study.
Years of Related Experience:
• Over 7 years’ experience of developing appropriate loans/savings products for financial institutions for various market segments.
• Experience of developing business plans for financial institutions.
• Experience in Project Management.
• Have demonstrable skills for microenterprise development.
• Ability to proactively generate and co-create “new business” opportunities that lead to strategic funding.
• Excellent relationship management skills with both financial and digital platform services providers.
Qualifications:
Preferred – in addition to minimum:
• Non–profit sector leadership and management experience.
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, coaching, and mentoring skills
• Displaying adherence to organisation’s mission.
• Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.
• Ability to conduct research and make use of the collected data.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience and good understanding of best practice, knowledge management and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and – — – Learning (MEAL) and safeguarding in a programme context
• Strong people skills.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines
