Overall Job Purpose
As a key member of the Process Team and reporting to the Superintendent-continuous operation, Lockout Supervisor, shall be responsible for assisting operations with the implementation of new plant practices, standard operating procedures, safe work practices and Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures in order to ensure compliance to national and international standards of Safety. The overall job purpose of this role shall be to:
• Carry out tasks allocated to them by the coordinator – Production Planning & Compliance in the context of assessing plant design documentation, participating in the “Change Management” System, and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Procedures and Lock Out/Tag Out Procedures.
• Take ownership of planning and executing any activities concerning Lock Out/Tag Out activities.
• Assist Operations with the preparation of all the necessary Lock Out/Tag Out equipment and documentation, facilitating effective and efficient plant isolations.
• Take the lead on and report about process performance analysis and improvements initiatives with a focus on bottleneck elimination, constraint identification and Lean Operations.

Specific Job Responsibility
• Champion the Plant Design “Change Management” system on behalf of the Processing Department, interfacing with Projects Department, Engineering Department and Document Control personnel in in order to ensure that standard operating procedures, safe work practices and Lockout-Tagout procedures are kept up to date.
• Possess the ability to Analyse and understand plant design documentation as Equipment and Instruments Lists, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Operating philosophies and Process Control Functional Specifications
• Assist and advice operations personnel so all the operating and maintenance activities within the plant comply with the standard practices.
• Assist Operations personnel by carrying out plant and equipment isolations, mainly required during major shutdowns.
• Provide Process interface support to the Projects, Engineering and Document Control personnel regarding the Plant Design Change Management System
• Participate and report about process performance analysis and improvements initiatives.
• Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement philosophy of the Process team
• Be proactive so Processing Department consistently delivers and exceeds the main KPI’s of plant throughput, utilization, recovery and safety.
• Ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
• Lead work with the FQM Way culture in the continuous operations– “Smarter, Bolder, Driven;”
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Understand and execute accountabilities of legal appointment under Zambian Mining Regulations at Supervisory level.
• Maintain HSE standards for self and team; including toolbox talk, planned tasks observation, “Stop, Think and Coach”, hazard identification and reporting etc.
• Ensure all Safety and Environmental incidents are addressed & reported promptly.

Job Specific Competencies
• Basic knowledge of the operating principles of a concentrator, including Gyratory Crushing, Cone Crushing, SAG Milling, Ball Milling, Flotation, Thickening and Filtering.
• Good understanding of industrial plant design documentation like Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), and Operating philosophies.
• Deep understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out Best Operational Practices.
• Experience in large, complex base metals mineral processing plant(s), Cement Manufacturing and Petroleum Processing would be considered a plus.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong computing skills including Microsoft Office suite, Siemens PCS7, and basic ERP capability are required.
• Very strong English language fluency, both written and spoken.

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Experience required to perform in this job.
• A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in a technical and/or operational role in an industrial plant at a supervisor level
• 2 years of relevant experience in a role with exposure to Lock Out/Tag Out Operational Practices

Qualifications
As a minimum, candidates wishing to be considered for this position must:
• Be the holder of a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering. Graduates of Mining, Geology and Chemical Engineering may also apply. A post graduate qualification in any SHEQ related programme will be highly regarded.
• Be Eligible for membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), and the Mines Safety Department as defined by the Mining Regulations of Zambia.
