JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of cargo shipments from pick-up points to the end-user. Also responsible for managing logistics and ensuring that transportation of cargo is handled efficiently, safely, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
• Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles.
• Monitor and report on transportation costs
• Ensure shipping documents are properly filed
• Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
• Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
• Organize training sessions for drivers, and support staff (e.g. proper use of equipment and handling of hazardous material etc)
• Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
• Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation
• Stay up-to-date with safety regulations

Qualification and Requirements:
• 3 – 5 years proven work experience as a Transportation Manager or a similar role
• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Engineering degree plus CILT diploma / degree
• Solid knowledge of supply chain management
• Experience preparing and tracking orders
• Familiarity with transport & logistics software like Mix telematics or Geotab
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to supervise and train staff
• Problem-solving abilities
